Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join their Mission Success team. This role owns the integration, commissioning, and testing of vessel subsystems—sensors, actuators, communications, networking, navigation, control, and mission-critical equipment—in demanding, customer-facing environments.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Hardware integration and testing experience.
  • Desirable: knowledge of control strategies, PLC programming (Codesys), CAN bus, and NMEA protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Own configuration, integration, commissioning, and testing of vessel subsystems – sensors, actuators, communications, networking, navigation, control, and mission-critical equipment.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team to rapidly develop and deploy working prototypes, shaping system architectures and integration approaches.
  • Develop and integrate solutions across hardware, software, networking, and vessel systems to meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee prototyping, simulation, verification, and testing to validate design assumptions and prove system performance.
  • Conduct and support trials - testing and validating whole-craft integration in real operating environments.
  • Diagnose complex system-level faults using structured troubleshooting, data analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Support configuration management - accurate records of system versions, settings, test results, and changes.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for integration, commissioning, setting-to-work, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with vendors and customers to ensure successful deployments.

Owen Daniels is partnered with a fast-growing, privately funded maritime technology innovator, they design and deliver next-generation, high-performance vessels for defense and commercial customers and are seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join their Mission Success team.

This role owns whole-platform performance: making sure vessels and their integrated mission systems are safe, reliable, and operationally ready in demanding, customer-facing environments.

Job Summary

Required and Desirable Experience
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Hardware integration and testing experience
  • Desirable: control strategy understanding, PLC programming (including Codesys), basic electronics, modern C++ and/or Python, CAN bus, and protocols such as CANOpen, NMEA2000, NMEA0183.
