Job description

At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.

In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.

About the role:

PMAT is seeking an experienced Systems Infrastructure Engineer to support the installation, configuration, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical computing infrastructure and software systems across Navy operational environments. This role will work closely with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, software developers, and operational stakeholders to ensure fielded systems are properly configured, secured, tested, and maintained throughout their operational lifecycle. The candidate will support Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization platforms, enterprise network services, identity and access management, and system recovery capabilities while troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and automating recurring administrative processes. The role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, hands-on systems administration experience, and the ability to support system fielding activities while adhering to established cybersecurity, configuration management, and change control requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the planning, installation, configuration, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of hardware, software, and computing infrastructure across development, test, and operational environments.
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and supporting infrastructure services to ensure system availability, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise network and identity services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, user accounts, permissions, authentication, and access management.
  • Support system fielding activities by validating hardware and software configurations, verifying connectivity, resolving integration issues, and ensuring deployed capabilities meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Implement and maintain system patching, software updates, backup and recovery procedures, and routine maintenance activities to support system performance, security, and continuity of operations.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies to streamline system administration, configuration, deployment, and recurring maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues involving operating systems, virtualization, networking, authentication, storage, applications, and system dependencies, coordinating with engineering teams to identify and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to implement system hardening, security configurations, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and compliance requirements throughout the fielding and sustainment lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain system configuration documentation, installation procedures, technical diagrams, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and other engineering artifacts supporting deployment, maintenance, and operational handoff.
  • Support configuration management, change control, system validation, and technical coordination activities while communicating deployment status, technical risks, system deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions to engineering and program stakeholders.
