Job description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the lead estimator in preparing bids and proposals.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents to determine and validate project requirements.
  • Identify risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions.
  • Solicit competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for pursuits.
  • Perform detailed quantity, material, and labor takeoffs from project documents.
  • Communicate effectively with trades and engage in cold calling when necessary.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and project walk-throughs.
  • Assist with bid day activities and support bid runners.
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Participate in estimate reviews with executives, operations staff, owners, and engineers.
  • Maintain bid document control, organize, and archive estimate information for smooth transfer to the project team.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret project documents, including plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis.
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Working knowledge of estimating software.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar PDF software.
  • Understanding of different delivery methods: Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology quickly.

We seek a candidate with the above abilities who can develop and maintain relationships with contractors to increase our new construction volume. While experience in estimating is preferred, we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate the potential to learn our trade.
