At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems and has been revolutionizing modern flight for over 100 years. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly skilled and forward‑thinking Performance and Operability Methods Engineer to help transform the company’s digital modeling ecosystem and drive enterprise adoption of next‑generation engineering methods. This role advances propulsion modeling capabilities by enhancing NPSS toolchains, optimizing PMDO workflows, and strengthening automation and CI/CD systems. The engineer will provide technical leadership in MBSE, MDAO, and digital engineering methodologies—guiding system modeling, integration, optimization, and design automation practices while partnering closely with discipline and strategy stakeholders. Responsibilities include coordinating performance and operability methods, supporting development of NPSS Kernel/EMI and Core Library features, supporting modeling across programs, and owning key processes such as the Automated Severity Grid and PSA Jenkins pipelines. The engineer will collaborate across functions to harmonize digital processes, improve modeling reliability, streamline data environments, and deploy new analytical capabilities. The role will further contribute to innovation through support of an AI Coding Assistant initiative designed to accelerate NPSS model implementation—strengthening the broader enterprise effort to modernize, automate, and elevate propulsion‑analysis workflows. Coordinate engine performance and operations methods tasks, ensuring alignment of engineering methods, process governance, and timely delivery of work products. Provide PMDO process support, including method development, documentation updates, workflow optimization, and integration with broader engineering systems. Provide NPSS System and Modeling Support to programs and customers, including model updates, debugging, performance assessments, and integration of advanced features. Perform NPSS Tools and Core Library Development to extend analytical capabilities and support engineering-wide tool standardization. Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, methods, and digital teams to harmonize processes, deploy new capabilities, and support enterprise modeling initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across modeling, automation, and data‑processing environments, driving continuous improvement and enhanced reliability. Support development of an AI Coding Assistant acting as an LLM-based driver for NPSS model implementation.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) 10+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with software development in a structured environment
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or enterprise tools
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional engineering projects in an Agile framework
  • Experience with NPSS, Python, Java, JavaScript/HTML, REST APIs, Git/Github, Jenkins/Groovy, AWS, Linux/Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, Matlab/Simulink
  • Proficient at applying Agile and Leadership Operating Model to drive successful outcomes in evolving and ambiguous environments
  • Working technical knowledge of multiple P&W engineering disciplines (working knowledge: Have led or executed EKS on project)
  • Knowledge of P&W engineering workflows across the lifecycle (activities, work products, and handoffs within RLPM)
  • Experience with process modeling and analysis, systems integration, digital transformation, and/or MBSE at scale
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with project planning and oversight of projects with an enterprise wide scope of impact.
  • Experience with RTX-approved AI LLM and ML platforms
