Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, Alabama, seeks a Systems Engineering Section Manager to lead four to eight engineers in the SE Branch while maintaining current technical commitments. The role involves directing program teams across DoD and NASA programs, guiding verification, requirements development, and trades, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

The candidate will mentor staff, manage staffing and onboarding, participate in proposals, and develop standardized tools and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 5+ years' experience or MS with 2+ years.
• Experience with the product development cycle through qualification and production.
• Experience deriving and managing requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Experience creating verification/test plans and coordinating system integration and test.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to four to eight direct reports in a matrixed branch.
• Mentor direct reports and develop standardized tools and processes.
• Keep management informed of critical issues and participate in proposals.
• Track staffing and career development opportunities for the team.
• Interview candidates and input into SE&I Branch hiring decisions.
• Onboard new employees and manage equipment/office space.
• Conduct performance appraisals and coaching.
