Job summary

RTX is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at White Sands, NM. This on-site role supports installation and testing of engineering changes, as well as integration and test activities, including field tests of radars or missiles.

Candidates must be enrolled in a STEM program and have at least 30 credit hours by start. Eligible interns may work weekends or holidays and potentially travel to range sites.

Qualifications

Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and enrolled through the internship period.
Must have a minimum of 30 credit hours by the start of the internship.
Experience with instrumentation and/or operation of data acquisition systems or lab test equipment.

Responsibilities

Support installation and testing of engineering modifications and updates.
Assist integration and test activities to diagnose and correct issues.
Support mission execution tests, potentially traveling to range sites.
Occasional weekend/holiday testing with extended hours.

In Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.

The Mission Capability Verification Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities is searching for engineering interns to support program test operations with our team at White Sands Missile Range, NM.

What You Will Do

Support installation and testing of engineering modifications and updates
Support integration and test activities to identify, diagnose, and correct issues
Support mission execution test events for our radars or missile flight tests, which could include travel to various sites on range
Test events may occur over weekends or holidays, and may require extended hours

Qualifications You Must Have

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co‑op session.
Experience with the instrumentation and/or operation of data acquisition systems or laboratory test equipment

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

Ability to analyze and solve problems in real time.
Familiarity with scripting, MATLAB or similar
Prior RTX internship, co‑op, or work experience.

$37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
