RTX is seeking talented Systems Engineering and Test interns in the Marlborough/Greater Boston area. The role involves integrating hardware and software, developing test plans, and verifying system requirements across the product lifecycle in a hands-on environment.

You will support program development, testing, integration, flight-testing, and post-deployment support, with travel up to 20%. The position is onsite at Tewksbury, MA, and follows RTX internship guidelines and benefits where

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in STEM and enrolled through internship/co-op.
  • Must have at least 60 credit hours by start of internship/co-op.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in academic or internship settings using common test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering activities related to testing and troubleshooting hardware and software.
  • Perform functional analysis of real world and test data; conduct trade studies to bring features to the fielded system.
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations using analysis tools such as MATLAB.
  • Assist in system integration and test, including potential live fire events.
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to stakeholders.

Job description

What You Will Do

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities discipline seeks talented Systems Engineers. Our team located in Tewksbury, MA integrates hardware and software, develops test plans and procedures, debugs and evaluates system functions and interfaces, and verifies system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts.

You will support elements of program development, engineering testing, integration, flight-testing, production, system deployment, and/or post deployment support across the product lifecycle.

This position is an onsite role in Tewksbury, MA. Test event support activity may require travel which is not expected to exceed 20%.

  • Support engineering activities related to testing and troubleshooting of hardware and software
  • Functional analysis of real world and test data; trade studies to bring advanced features to fielded system
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • System integration and test support, possibly including live fire test events
  • Support activity may require travel
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB
  • Support qualification of our products
  • Sustainment/Depot returns and repair
  • Maintain engineering specifications (DS, ARD, etc.) & drawing (Schematics & Assembly Drawings)
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
  • Maintain engineering databases
  • Participate in periodic team meetings, interface teleconference meetings, working group meetings
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong undergraduate level understanding of electrical, mechanical and/or software system integration, familiarity with C/C++/C# preferred
  • Experience with or exposure to various military platforms such as ships, ground combat systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft
  • Experience with tools, such as MATLAB or Python scripting, for instrumentation and collection of large data sets, data analysis and automation
  • Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
