Systems Engineering and Operations Manager
Location: Washington, DC / Hybrid
MUST:
- Current Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Able to pass a DOJ Level III Public Trust
- Experienced Systems Engineering and Operations Manager
- 10+ years of overall IT experience in systems engineering, implementing, troubleshooting IT systems, hardware, software, and systems design
- 5+ years of experience managing a team of engineers and administrators
- Proven success in delivering high-level technical support and meeting deadlines
- Strong experience with Virtualized Windows server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, SQL, DNS, DHCP, and PKI
- Engineering-level experience with VMware ESXi, VMware Horizon VDI, OS patching using MECM, and monitoring with Nagios is highly desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to handle high-stress environments professionally
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Current Certifications: MCSE/M365x, VCP, CCNP, or RHCE
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field
DUTIES:
- Lead a team of systems engineers and administrators to ensure adequate coverage, identify areas for improvement, and support team development
- Oversee activities of the Operations and Engineering teams, maintaining project momentum and operational continuity
- Adjust project resources and timelines to meet deadlines, communicate progress and issues with the government client, and make sound technical decisions in collaboration with team leads and the Program Manager
- Act as escalation manager for on-call/after-hours staff, knowing when and how to escalate issues
- Provide remote and on-site incident support, with root cause analysis and mitigation within 24 hours
- Configure and manage Group Policy, including GPO settings, application to OUs, and deployment
- Perform SQL database maintenance, upgrades, configuration, and performance tuning
- Assist in datacenter consolidation projects involving Hyper-V and ESXi
- Support creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VMware ThinApps, Microsoft Remote Applications, and APP-V applications
- Follow change management processes and contribute to documentation
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for resolution management
- Support customer-facing peripheral device infrastructure, including Zero/Thin Client Management
- Troubleshoot access issues related to Office365 and security or message delivery failures
