Job summary

VTG is seeking a patriotic Systems Engineer to join our Fort Meade, MD team. You will apply systems engineering across the lifecycle for RF processing systems, develop Python/Visual Basic tools, and support EMI/EE testing, documentation, and verification activities.

Required: TS/SCI with Poly, DoD 8570 Security+ or equivalent, 5+ years in systems engineering, and a technical degree. Travel ~3 times/year; sign-on bonus up to $10,000 is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (systems/electrical/computer/physics/mathematics)
  • Minimum 5 years of professional systems engineering experience
  • Experience applying systems engineering across the lifecycle
  • Experience developing tools using Python and Visual Basic
  • Strong knowledge of RF theory and RF engineering principles
  • Hands-on RF test equipment experience (network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes)
  • Experience evaluating EMI/EE requirements and RF emissions
  • Ability to travel ~3 times/year for 7–10 days each trip
  • TS/SCI with Poly and DoD 8570 compliant certs (Security+) are required

Job description

Overview VTG is a patriotic Systems Engineer to join our team in Fort Meade, MD. This position will support a mission-focused customer developing, deploying, and maintaining Radio Frequency processing systems. The Systems Engineer will apply systems engineering principles across the concept, development, production, utilization, support, and retirement phases of the system life cycle. This individual will support Radio Frequency testing, electromagnetic interference analysis, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects requirements, technical documentation, and system verification activities. What will you do?
  • Apply systems engineering principles throughout all phases of the system life cycle, including concept development, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, transition, operation, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Develop applications and engineering tools using Python and Visual Basic.
  • Apply Radio Frequency theory and engineering principles to evaluate unintended electromagnetic emissions within the HF, VHF, and UHF frequency ranges.
  • Perform and support electromagnetic interference and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects testing.
  • Select, configure, and evaluate RF components such as amplifiers, filters, isolators, attenuators, terminators, and related equipment.
  • Formulate, document, review, and execute system and component test plans and procedures.
  • Analyze test data and prepare formal technical reports documenting findings, conclusions, risks, and engineering recommendations.
  • Specify and review system and component technical-performance requirements to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with applicable E3 noise and electric-field limits.
  • Support system requirements definition, requirements analysis, architectural design, implementation, integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Identify technical problems, evaluate potential solutions, and communicate recommendations to Government customers and program stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, Government organizations, and external agency stakeholders to ensure engineering support meets E3 Program and customer mission requirements.
  • Support technical reviews, risk assessments, configuration-management activities, decision analyses, and system-performance evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete engineering documentation, test records, technical reports, and other program deliverables.
  • Communicate technical considerations, risks, issues, and conflicts to program personnel, Government representatives, senior executives, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of assigned systems engineering work products.
  • Travel approximately three times per year for periods of seven to ten days per trip. Do you have what it takes?
  • TS/SCI with Poly required
  • Active IAT II CWIP / DoD 8570 compliant certification (i.e., Security+)
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional systems engineering experience.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Experience developing applications, engineering tools, or automation capabilities using Python and Visual Basic.
  • Strong knowledge of Radio Frequency theory and RF engineering principles.
  • Experience evaluating electromagnetic interference or unintended emissions within the HF, VHF, or UHF spectrum.
  • Hands-on experience using RF test equipment such as network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with RF components, including amplifiers, filters, isolators, attenuators, and terminators.
  • Experience developing and documenting technical test plans, procedures, and formal test reports.
  • Experience analyzing test results and providing technically sound engineering recommendations.
  • Ability to define, review, and evaluate system and component technical-performance requirements.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Government customers, engineers, program personnel, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately three times per year for seven to ten days at a time.
  • VTG's estimated starting pay range is $100K - $150K annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
