Job summary

SIXGEN is seeking a Systems Engineer in Columbia, MD to lead end-to-end engineering efforts for next-generation IT tools and capabilities, with on-site work five days a week.

The role requires active TS/SCI with polygraph, 15+ years of systems engineering, and certifications such as CISSP/CASP/CSSLP; you will collaborate with government stakeholders and mission partners on complex projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related discipline (four years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree).
  • Active CISSP, CASP+ CE, or CSSLP certification (minimum DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification).
  • 15+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, system architectures, and system designs.
  • Experience supporting system development, integration, and implementation activities.
  • Experience communicating with technical teams, government stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

  • Establish effective working relationships with government agencies and mission partners.
  • Deliver briefings on complex topics to technical and executive audiences.
  • Support applied research and cyber capability development projects.
  • Contribute as a senior technical resource on complex research efforts.
  • Ensure solutions are implemented in a sound and secure manner.
  • Support mission-focused engineering activities from concept through deployment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with a diverse set of technical skills and the ability to adapt to unique mission requirements. The selected candidate will support projects focused on developing and implementing next-generation IT tools, systems, and capabilities while providing technical leadership throughout the engineering lifecycle.

This role requires end-to-end responsibility for applied research and cyber capability development efforts, ensuring successful execution from concept through implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Engineering

  • Experience designing and engineering systems from the ground up.
  • Experience with network architecture and systems engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly assess and develop practical technical solutions.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

At SIXGEN, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation for this role will be based on experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and overall alignment with the position. Salary for this position is: $201,000-240,000.
