Job summary

PE Systems, Inc. has a great opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the NC3 program at Warner Robins AFB, GA. The role requires applying engineering theories to design and implement secure and resilient communications and information systems.

The ideal candidate will possess a TS/SCI clearance, 10+ years of related experience (MA) or 15+ years (BA), and proficiency with MBSE and Microsoft Office tools. Travel to various facility sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • MA Degree with 10+ years related experience or BA Degree with 15+ years of related experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel to various facility sites and provide required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering theories, principles, and methods to plan, design, and implement secure and resilient communications and information systems.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues and agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Apply and support MBSE throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Develop cost estimates for new or modified systems and evaluate trade-offs.
  • Prepare technical documents defining system characteristics, requirements, and specifications.

General Function:
  • Apply engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods sufficient to extend or modify theories, concepts, and assumptions.
  • Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues which may require significantly altering standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques.
  • Provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Apply and support digital engineering concepts and techniques throughout the program lifecycle, such as providing technical support to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Evaluate the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, and applications.
  • Investigate, predict, and anticipate issues and conditions extending beyond a single specialty area and affecting known standards, approaches, precedents, or concepts.
  • Develop or collaborate in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or theories.
  • Advocate recommendations, strategies, and actions to reconcile or resolve novel, conflicting, or controversial issues or policies.
  • Perform needs analysis to define opportunities for new or improved systems engineering programs/processes.
  • Perform problem/gap definition, trade space analysis, science, and technology roadmap analysis, concept development, decision analysis, and cost, schedule, performance/system capability/system security trade-off analysis.
  • Incorporate system security and resiliency engineering as part of system designs to meet operational needs and operational/environmental factors.
  • Develop cost estimates for new or modified systems.
  • Evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications.
  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles.
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/functional/subsystem characteristics, requirements, and specifications.
  • Ensure the integration of all system components and with external systems.
  • Design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.
  • Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures.
  • Analyze and/or evaluate test results of major engineering systems.
  • Manage/sustain program technical baseline.
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force processes.
  • Perform Information Systems Security Developer (631) and Systems Developer (632) Core/Additional Tasks and meet the KSAs as outlined in DoD Cyber Workforce Framework - DoDI 8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to incorporate communications systems and Modular Open System Architectures (e.g. Open Mission Systems) on host platforms with an NC3 mission to enable NC3 modernization. Analysis considerations should include SWAP-C, HW/SW processing environments, and technology limitations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
  • MA Degreeand more than 10 years of related experience,OR,BA Degreeand more than 15 years of experience related to the position requirements.
  • Mustpossess and maintain a government security clearance at theTS/SCIlevel.
  • Mustbe proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Mustbe able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
