Nerd Up Staffing seeks mid to senior engineers for a hands-on systems engineering role on the U.S. Navy AEGIS Weapon System Integration, Testing, and Systems Engineering program.
You’ll trace requirements, debug C++ issues, and document anomalies as part of the customer’s team on-site in Mount Laurel, NJ. The role emphasizes DOORS traceability, V&V, and clear technical writing, with opportunities for growth within a veteran-owned, long-tenured team.
The company doing this work is small and specialized. It has partnered with this customer since 2007 and supported Aegis since 2015. Its 36 engineers on the program work as part of the customer’s team, not as outside contractors kept at arm’s length. Across the East Coast, it hasn’t had a layoff in nearly two decades, and it keeps its engineers. If you have had a program cancelled out from under you, this is a different situation.
This is hands-on systems engineering. You’ll trace problems from test events through the requirements and into the code, document anomalies and deficiencies, and see them through to resolution. You’ll do it alongside engineers who have supported this system for years, with a manager who mentors rather than micromanages.
Prior Aegis experience is welcome but not required. If you have written requirements, built test procedures, run test readiness reviews, or traced verification to test in DOORS on a complex aerospace or defense system, that experience carries over. You will need hands-on C++, DOORS, and V&V.
Mid to senior engineers who want to stay hands-on. This is an individual contributor role, not a program management or people management position.
