Job summary

TelevisaUnivision’s Media Systems Support is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to maintain broadcast-related IT infrastructure for 24x7x365 News, Sports and Entertainment production environments. You will provide day-to-day support, monitor on-prem and cloud systems, and collaborate with engineering for high availability and security.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in IT, 3+ years with cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Azure), and experience in CI/CD, IaC, and networking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in an IT profession, preferably in media/broadcast environments.
• 3+ years deploying, configuring, and solving cloud infrastructure in GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Experience supporting 24/7, continuous availability production environments.
• Experience with Cloud computing, Virtualization, Network, Storage and Operating Systems (Windows & Linux).
• Experience with continuous integration and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls & load balancers.
• Strong communication with both business and technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support and monitoring of Global Engineering on-prem and Cloud Infrastructure in the US.
• Perform preventive maintenance and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Involved in incidents or problems causing service impact.
• Serve as part of the Engineering support escalation group for performance, stability and security.
• Maintain system availability and develop a resilient infrastructure to reduce failures.
• Monitor incident tracking for timely resolution and meet service levels.

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

The Media Systems Support team at TelevisaUnivision is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team!

The Systems Engineer is a hands-on Systems Support position responsible for all aspects of the infrastructure support team and the implementation and maintenance of current and future technologies used to support 24x7x365 News, Sports and/or Entertainment Production Environments. In this role, the hired individual will maintain broadcast-related IT Infrastructure systems and help to identify new technologies and tools to support and improve operations. He or she will provide technical assistance for daily operations of mission-critical systems.

The Systems Engineer works closely with the Media Systems Support group on all aspects related to their assigned area of responsibility.

YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

• You will be responsible for providing day-to-day support and monitoring of all Global Engineering on-prem and Cloud Infrastructure technology in the US.
• Responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all systems and making sure those tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• You will have direct involvement in incidents or problems (irrespective of priority) that cause service impact.
• Serves as part of the Engineering support escalation group for system performance, stability, and security for systems deployed by Univision.
• Responsible for overall system and infrastructure availability and develop a resilient infrastructure to reduce failures.
• Monitors incident tracking system for timely resolution of critical issues. Ensures service levels are met.

YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electronics, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in an IT profession, preferably with a media company or other broadcast operational environments.
• 3+ years deploying, configuring, and solving cloud infrastructure in either GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Experience supporting 24/7, continuous availability production and managed environments.
• Experience with Cloud computing, Virtualization, Network, Storage and Operating Systems (Windows & Linux).
• Experience with continuous integration and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls & load balancers.
• Knowledge of best practices for IT operations in an always-on, always-available service model.
• Display personal flexibility to achieve business goals.
• Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical staff.
• Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, accurate, organized.
