Job description

KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated Systems Engineer, Journeyman to join our team. This position will be onsite in Pax River, MD.

Established in July 2013, KAIROS, Inc. is a growing Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) providing full life cycle Cybersecurity, Program Management, Engineering, Logistics, Additive Manufacturing, and Training and Education services focused on optimizing customers’ program performance and mission through proven methodologies and ethical practices. This position will support the Systems Engineering Department (SED) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms, including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.

Primary Duties
  • Program Office: PMA-273 (Naval Undergraduate Flight Training Systems Program Office) is responsible for managing the aircraft, simulators, and associated systems that support the U.S. Navy’s undergraduate pilot training pipeline.
  • Act as engineering and acquisition support for the Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE) in the management of the T-6B Texan II – primary fixed‑wing training aircraft.
  • Support systems engineering activities related to sustainment, upgrades, and safety of the T-6B Texan II.
  • Monitor system performance, integration, and airworthiness.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across NAVAIR, training squadrons, and contractors to ensure fleet readiness and training mission effectiveness.
  • Contribute to risk management, technical documentation, and compliance with acquisition standards.

  • Desired Experience:
    • Fixed‑Wing Aviation Experience: familiarity with aircraft systems, flight training operations, or acquisition support for fixed‑wing aircraft.
    • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and naval acquisition lifecycle.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant experience.
Clearance

This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance and the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and able to complete the full background investigation.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 to $145,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
