Overview

Seeking a Journeyman Systems Engineer to join our team in support of the Heavy Lift Helicopters Program Office at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This position provides critical systems engineering support focused on CH‑53K systems development. Responsibilities include technical research and development of emerging technologies, system analysis, and comprehensive documentation. The engineer will also support the acquisition process for aircraft, weapons, and integrated systems—evaluating their technical performance, mission effectiveness, and associated acquisition risks from initial concept through deployment and sustainment.

Primary Duties

• Provide systems engineering technical support to the PMA‑261 Senior Class Desk
• Assist with the CH‑53K Systems Development Document (SDD) closeout actions
• Perform programmatic or technical knowledge—identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems; guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems; and employing systems engineering methods and tools in the development of systems
• Act as the central coordination point for all engineering, logistics, and sustainment issues related to the CH‑53E/K and MH‑53E
• Support airworthiness, configuration management, and issue resolution for systems already in the fleet
• Coordinate engineering change proposals (ECPs), technical directives, and updates
• Perform software acquisition functions, requirements management, and the understanding of software workflow, including breaking down software requirements into system requirements

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university
• Five (5) years of recent and relevant experience

Clearance

This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000–$145,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
