The Systems Engineer III serves as a senior technical contributor for NSWC Crane Code GXP and SSP model-based systems engineering. This Key Personnel position leads complex systems-engineering, requirements, architecture, model integration, verification, and simulation activities that preserve technical traceability and configuration control across Strategic Weapon System acquisition and modernization programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development, integration, maintenance, and technical review of SysML Descriptive System Models, Integrated Verification Models, interface models, and system-level simulation artifacts.
- Guide requirements elicitation, decomposition, allocation, traceability, validation, and verification across multiple systems, technical branches, and acquisition stakeholders.
- Apply SSP systems-engineering policies, modeling standards, ontology profiles, and integrated modeling and simulation standards to program technical baselines.
- Develop and evaluate systems architectures, design alternatives, interfaces, verification strategies, engineering risks, and lifecycle technical plans.
- Coordinate model and simulation integration with SSP offices, NSWC Crane organizations, prime contractors, and subsystem teams; identify inconsistencies and drive issues to resolution.
- Lead technical support for system integration, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop events, test analysis, and evaluation of requirements-satisfaction evidence.
- Support configuration and technical-data management for documentation, models, simulations, verification reports, and established technical baselines.
- Prepare and present model views, analyses, recommendations, and technical evidence for systems-engineering reviews, working groups, and acquisition milestones.
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to less-experienced systems engineers and modelers while ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- At least seven years of professional systems engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with SysML modeling, systems engineering, requirements, design, analysis, verification, and simulation.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance at the time of award and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary technical efforts onsite at NSWC Crane and communicate effectively with senior Government and industry stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or another technical discipline.
- Ten or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Advanced experience applying SysML across requirements, architecture, design, analysis, verification, and simulation.
- Ship or submarine weapon-system experience, particularly within Navy or SSP environments.
