Systems Engineer III - TACKLE

Epsilon C5I (www.epsilonsystems.com/c5i), focused on software development and systems engineering for complex command, control, intelligence and combat systems, is seeking a Systems Engineer III / DevSecOps Engineer, with 4-8 years of experience, for work in San Diego, CA. Summary:

Our software team employs an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities into a mature Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution. Work involves troubleshooting, securing Linux operating systems and networks, and securing containers and container platforms. The ideal person would be interested in System Architecture and Security, while also interested in the nitty gritty of security and system access control.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Secure and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL) systems and networks using access control tools such as SELinux, or others.
• Work with Security Teams to script/Automate the deployments of network security measures as well as applications and Operating systems. Ideal experience would be in Bash/Python etc.
• Automate the deployment of new and existing applications. Ability to build and automate security processes
• Write software to integrate applications.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• 4-8 (four to eight) years of professional experience involving DevSecOps or Systems Integration
• Hands- on experience with troubleshooting complex operating systems and networks in a Linux (RHEL) environment
• Ability to write Bash or Python scripts.
• Ability to troubleshoot networking problems in a hybrid Cloud (AWS) /on-premise environment.
• Experience with Virtual Machines (VMWare etc.), RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), GitLab, and AWS
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered tools to streamline systems engineering / DevSecOps processes, enhance requirements analysis, optimize system design and integration, and support the efficient delivery of reliable, high-quality technical solutions.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of business users and management.
• Ability to work individually and on team projects in an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
• Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance.
• Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to Obtain and Maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Access
• Familiarity with SELinux and Multi-Level Security architectures
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD including setting up build pipelines, automating testing, and deploying applications.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Terraform
• Familiarity with network protocols, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, firewalls, and routers. Ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking problems.
• Familiarity with DNS, LDAP, PKI, and other infrastructure services.
• Experience implementing access controls (DAC, MAC, RBAC)
• Experience with Virtual Machines, RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and vSphere

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $115,000 to $165,000 annually. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
