Blue Origin seeks a systems engineer specializing in electrical systems for New Glenn launch pad infrastructure. You will own subsystem requirements, drive design and verification decisions, and collaborate with EGSE/DSCE designers across the C3 discipline.

You will coordinate with New Glenn Systems Engineering and Launch Ops Architecture, interface with cross-functional SEs, and contribute to gated reviews throughout the lifecycle. This role emphasizes strong communication and hands-on testing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on systems or design engineering experience focused on electrical systems.
• Experience with continuity system design—routing, sizing, components, testing.
• Hands-on build-up or testing experience.
• Knowledge of at least one additional discipline (controls, software, avionics, fluids, or structures).
• B.S. in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to translate C3 complexity for stakeholders.

• Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS/DNG) or willingness to learn.
• Experience with aerospace or industrial safety standards and verification methods.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a systems engineer with established expertise across the full SE development lifecycle, you will own subsystem requirements for electrical systems on New Glenn’s launch pad infrastructure. You will deeply understand and communicate the impacts of design and verification decisions, driving cross-functional resolution from specification through verification.

This role requires close collaboration with EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) and DSCE (Data Systems and Controls Engineering) designers, supporting CONOPS development and building strong working relationships with the engineers and operators who design, build, and test these systems. EGSE and DSCE fall within the “C3” discipline - Command, Communication and Controls. You’ll interface regularly with New Glenn Systems Engineering, the Launch Ops Architecture team, and participate in gated design reviews.

We’re looking for someone whose core strength is electrical systems, who also brings enough breadth in adjacent disciplines (controls, software, structures, fluids) to understand how electrical subsystems interact with the rest of the vehicle/pad ecosystem.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Co-lead assessment and definition ofelectrical subsystemsolutions for the next-generation Launch Pad
• Serve as the SE focal point for one or moreC3 subsystems— hands-on collaboration with designers
• Electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) design and documentation
• Own verification planning, tracking, and coordination for electrical systems, while understandingdownstream impacts on controls, software, and structural interfaces
• Plan and coordinate subsystem test/activation/commissioning with the Operations Team
• Apply technical expertise to problem solving throughout product lifecycle, including design review support and verification planning and execution, scheduling, etc.
• Conduct strategic subsystem lookaheads, flagging emergent risks related to C3or cross-discipline integration issues
• Support milestone design reviews with electrical-specific technical rigor, while collaborating effectively with controls, avionics, fluids and structural SEs

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on systems or design engineering experience, with a primary emphasis on electrical systems
• Working knowledge of continuity system design/conceptualization — routing, sizing, component selection, testing
• Hands-on build-up or testing experience
• Familiarity with at least one additional discipline — controls, software, avionics, fluids, or structures — sufficient to collaborate effectively across subsystem boundaries (this is a plus, not a requirement to exclude strong electrical-only candidates)
• B.S. degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• Robust written and verbal communication skills — ability to translate C3 systems complexity for cross-functional stakeholders
• Ability to identify, prioritize, and drive systems engineering tasks independently
• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS/DNG) or willingness to learn
• Experience with aerospace or industrial safety standards and verification methods
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RF systems
• Cross-disciplinary experience integrating electrical systems with software/controls/avionics and fluids (e.g., valve actuation logic, sensor integration, automated fluid sequencing)
• SE tools: JIRA, Microsoft Project/Visio
• Experience conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field
• Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software
• Experience with Launch Pad and / or Test Operations
• Knowledge of NFPA or other standards related to electrical systems
