Job summary

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to provide advanced-level design, implementation, and support of the agency’s enterprise IT infrastructure.

You will manage patching, uptime, backup, DR, and security, lead technical initiatives, provide end-user and staff training, and participate in on-call rotations with occasional travel. This is a mission-driven environment with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; experience may substitute.
• Experience with Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience with server patch and vulnerability management using enterprise patching tools.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Automation and scripting (PowerShell) and security best practices.
• Ability to manage projects and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Strong IT security knowledge, patching, hardening, data protection.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Fingerprint background check required.
• Rotating 24/5 on-call schedule; occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, configuration, deployment of hardware and software systems.
• Monitor system performance; analyze metrics; implement optimizations.
• Provide high-level support and troubleshooting for system issues.
• Execute server vulnerability management program; patching.
• Design and implement disaster recovery plans; maintain backups.
• Create and maintain documentation; train end users and IT staff.
