Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Systems Engineer in Aguadilla, PR, to contribute to the Resilient Connectivity Product portfolio. The role is onsite, five days a week, with relocation not offered. You will learn from experts, grow in systems engineering, and contribute to mission-critical programs alongside a motivated team.

You will develop artifacts, participate in Agile ceremonies, and work toward securing a DoD clearance. This is an excellent entry path for engineers early in their careers.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a STEM degree with <2 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle: requirements, design, integration, verification, validation, and documentation.
  • Strong ability to communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance after start date.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to perform model-based systems engineering for mission-critical programs.
  • Develop lifecycle artifacts: trade studies, system design, requirements allocation, traceability, ICDs, verification and qualification.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint reviews, and end-of-sprint product demos.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical questions and support project execution.
  • Gain experience in secure systems development and modern MBSE practices.
  • Use modeling tools and next-generation systems engineering practices.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to work with the Resilient Connectivity Product portfolio. As a Systems Engineer on the RCP engineering team, we will equip you with the opportunities and resources necessary to develop your expertise in the systems engineering lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to learn from top professionals in the communications sector at Collins Aerospace. No need to be an established subject matter expert, we are looking for talented individuals that love to solve problems and have a desire to grow and gain exposure to new skills.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location and is to be worked Onsite, 5 days a week. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What YOU will do
  • Work closely with a highly motivated and dedicated team of professionals and other internal/external stakeholders while executing model-based systems engineering development activities for mission critical programs.
  • Participate in the systems development lifecycle, developing typical systems artifacts that include trade studies, system design, requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirement traceability, ICD creation, systems integration, verification testing and qualification.
  • Participate in and help facilitate Agile ceremonies, Agile sprint reviews, user story refinement and end of sprint product demos.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to answer technical questions, help solve problems, and support successful project execution.
  • Gain experience developing secure systems while collaborating with technical experts and applying modern systems engineering methods.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with modern modeling tools and next‑generation systems engineering practices.

Qualifications you must have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, design, integration, verification, validation, and technical documentation
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance after start date.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Current/Active US security clearance.
  • Awareness of MBSE, including system modeling, requirements traceability, or architecture development.
  • Experience using the Atlassian resource suite, specifically: Jira, Jama, and Confluence.
  • Understanding of fundamental systems engineering deliverables, such as requirements specifications, interface control documents, and verification matrices.
  • Experience defining system requirements and collaborating with software and hardware teams to ensure successful integration, performance, and alignment with overall system architecture.
