deciBel Research, Inc. in Colorado Springs is seeking a Systems Engineer to support MBSE-driven missile defense simulations and system architecture for the MDA Threat Modeling Center at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.

The role involves requirements derivation, process development, model-based systems engineering artifact creation, and contractual documentation, with collaboration among senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline required.
• 2+ years with Bachelor's degree; 0+ years with Master's degree preferred.
• Experience with military modeling & simulation frameworks.
• Experience with data analysis, scripting, or automation (Python, MATLAB, or C++).
• Familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based tracking/sensors, or orbital mechanics.
• MBSE concepts (basic).
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain; TS/SCI preferred.

Job description

Position Description:

deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

The successful candidate will assist in the software development lifecycle through requirements derivation, process development and refinement, Model Based Systems Engineering model development, and contractual documentation for the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA's) Threat Modeling Center (TMC) at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Duties include:

• Support capability elicitation and derivation of requirements to realize requested development.
• Collaborate in defining and developing processes and procedures.
• Research and gain experience with missile defense concepts, space-based sensor phenomenology, and threat model trajectories.
• Work in close coordination with senior engineers to develop systems engineering artifacts supporting development and testing.
• Participate in the development and update of technical documentation, system requirements, and user guides for simulation tools.
• Provide briefings to customer(s) and stakeholder(s) related to technical solutions, process development and updates, and system engineering artifacts.
• Support training and orientation of simulation tools.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline

Experience Requirements:

• 2+ years with Bachelor's degree; 0+ years with Master's degree
• Practical experience executing or analyzing results from military modeling and simulation (M&S) frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis, scripting, or automation using Python, MATLAB, or C++.
• Familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based tracking/sensors, or orbital mechanics.
• Basic understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts.
• Must be self-motivated and capable of executing technical tasks with minimal supervision.
• Current active in-scope DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD.
• Top Secret clearance with access to SCI.

Special Skills Desired:

• Direct experience working with the Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) or Missile Defense Space Tool (MDST).
• Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) ground test, flight test, or wargaming events.
• Basic experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• A current active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI (TS/SCI).

Applicant selected must have an active Secret security clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Target salary range: $90,000 - $110,000. This target salary represents an estimated range for this position based on experience, degree and other factors.
