Job summary

Seagate Technology in Longmont, CO seeks a software engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded application software across the full stack, from OS services to user interfaces. You will contribute to command-line tools used to configure and monitor disk array systems.

You'll work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment, applying test-driven development, code reviews, and CI to deliver reliable software for mass-capacity storage platforms.

Qualifications

  • Production-quality software experience in Linux-based, embedded, or systems environments.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming like C++/Java with service-based or API-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, and CI.
  • Knowledge of Python scripting.
  • Ability to debug issues across multiple layers of the software stack and collaborate with test teams.

Responsibilities

About the role - you will:

Join a team of software engineers in Seagate's System group that focuses on providing an enterprise class end user experience to our Systems products. This role provides the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain application software on embedded platforms, while maintaining a strong commitment to engineering excellence and code quality. Responsibilities span the full software stack, from operating system services through user-facing interfaces.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of command-line interfaces used by customers to configure, manage, and monitor disk array systems.
  • Design and implement high-quality embedded application software, leveraging test-driven development and best engineering practices.
  • Triage, debug, and resolve issues identified during continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate closely with quality and test organizations to identify and resolve defects in a timely manner.
  • Partner with geographically distributed team members to deliver high-quality software solutions.

  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python.
  • Ability to debug issues across multiple layers of the software stack, including application logic, operating system services, and inter-process communication.
  • Experience collaborating with test, validation, and quality engineering teams to diagnose and resolve defects.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field

The estimated base salary range for this position is $72,571.00 - $103,784.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
