Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle seeks a Systems Engineer to design, build, and support large-scale Windows server environments. You will implement tooling such as ECM or AWS Systems Manager for a massive Windows fleet and develop automation via PowerShell.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers across global data centers, participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, and travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 5+ years building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments.
• Experience with Linux, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and networking protocols.

Responsibilities

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Your role will involve collaboration across diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver high‑performance, safe, and secure infrastructure at scale.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Apply strong networking principles and Windows administration expertise across geographically distributed data centers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience working with Linux, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and networking protocols.
• 5+ years building scripts, tooling, and automation for large‑scale computing environments.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, including virtualization such as VMware, Xen, or similar.
• 5+ years deploying, managing, and supporting Windows Server environments of 500+ servers, including OS lifecycle management, patch compliance, and fleet‑wide standardization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Designing and developing scripts to automate operational burdens and ensuring maintainability, scalability, and security.
• Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
• Experience using AWS services.
• 5+ years of experience with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, or Xen) and supporting underlying hardware.
• Managing a large‑scale Windows Server fleet across geographically distributed environments with enterprise‑level configuration management and automation tooling such as ECM or AWS Systems Manager.
