Job summary

Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP is seeking a Systems Engineer to manage identity management, platform engineering, and secure, available IT services. You will collaborate with IS Operations, Networking, and InfoSec to maintain system performance and security across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of relevant experience, strong scripting abilities, and a background in large professional services settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 5+ years related experience; large law firm or professional services org experience preferred.
• Engineering and operational support experience with Identity Management systems.
• Experience with certificate automation and CyberArk Venafi.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and containerized platforms.
• Strong scripting (PowerShell, PERL) and automation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identity Management, platform engineering, and maintaining highly available, secure services.
• Triage and troubleshoot systems as first point of contact with IT groups.
• Lead deployment or upgrade of server-based software platforms.
• Collaborate with IS Operations, Networking, and InfoSec for optimal performance and security.
• Maintain documentation and scripts to automate tasks.
• Participate in weekly 24/7 on-call rotation.

Position Summary: Systems Engineers are responsible for Identity Management, Platform Engineering, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting highly available and secure technology services and processes.

• Engineering and operational support experience with Identity Management (eg Entra ID, AD, Enterprise applications, RBAC)
• Certificate Auto Management (eg, Cyberark Venafi)
• Cloud HSM
• Containerized platforms
• Azure and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure
• PAM (Eg, Cyberark)
• Kubernetes management, Rancher, Docker, AKS, Observability

Administering and troubleshooting Windows Server 2019, 2022, K8’s, RHEL, and VMWare. Configuring and troubleshooting core services including DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.

Working closely with IS Operations and Networking to achieve optimal performance of supported technologies.

Working in tandem with InfoSec to secure all internally and externally facing systems.

Technical leadership of deployment of new, or upgrading existing, server-based software platforms.

Creating and maintaining scripts (PowerShell, PERL, etc.) and scheduled tasks to automate routine tasks and configurations.

Ability to perform triage troubleshooting for all systems as first point of contact with other IT groups.

Some experience with AWS, SQL, Varonis and Citrix preferred.

Participation in periodic weekly 24/7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications / Position Requirements

Very strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong ability to create and maintain detailed system documentation. In addition, must be a creative thinker with proven problem-solving ability. Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative flat organization.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; 5+ years related experience required; experience at a large law firm or professional services organization strongly preferred.

Compensation

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $170,000-$180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
