Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer, Advisor to serve as an experienced technical resource within the Enterprise Applications team. This role supports the design, delivery, maintenance, documentation, and continuous improvement of enterprise application and infrastructure services that enable business operations and software engineering teams. The Advisor provides technical guidance, operational support, and cross-functional coordination for shared technology services such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, monitoring and observability, patch and vulnerability management, Azure AVD/VDI, certificate lifecycle processes, identity-related services, third-party application stewardship, and related enterprise service capabilities.

The Advisor works independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating with team members and stakeholders on broader initiatives. The role contributes to technical standards and service practices, strengthens operational maturity, and helps keep assigned services reliable, secure, supportable, well documented, and aligned with enterprise architecture and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical resource for assigned enterprise application and infrastructure services, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, monitoring and observability platforms, patching services, Azure AVD/VDI, certificate lifecycle management, identity-related services, and related shared technology capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for service design, implementation, lifecycle management, operational readiness, integration planning, supportability, security alignment, and continuous improvement across assigned platforms and services.
  • Maintain inventories for third-party applications and software tools used by software engineering teams as components of company product solutions, including documentation for vendor ownership, version status, lifecycle information, support contacts, business owners, technical owners, usage context, and escalation paths.
  • Develop and maintain practical knowledge of how assigned third-party applications, engineering tools, integrations, and infrastructure services support company products, services, development workflows, security requirements, operational processes, and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Partner with software engineering, product, architecture, security, procurement, vendor management, service desk, operations, and business teams to align application services, engineering tools, licensing, renewals, implementation priorities, support models, and service improvements with business needs.
  • Collaborate with core infrastructure and architecture teams to define service dependencies, architecture standards, technical handoffs, escalation paths, ownership boundaries, operational readiness expectations, and lifecycle plans for assigned shared services.
  • Translate service standards into practical operational procedures, analyst runbooks, ticket workflows, monitoring responses, patching schedules, certificate renewal tasks, user‑impact communications, and repeatable support practices.
  • Coordinate and deliver technical initiatives, infrastructure service changes, upgrades, deployments, certificate renewals, access changes, monitoring improvements, maintenance windows, and remediation efforts in accordance with change management, information security, and operational control practices.
  • Contribute to utilization, feature adoption, process improvement, automation opportunities, documentation quality, and value realization for assigned services and software tool investments by identifying stakeholder needs, underused functionality, adoption patterns, risk areas, and optimization or rationalization opportunities.
  • Maintain clear service documentation, application inventories, integration notes, ownership records, vendor contacts, support procedures, license and renewal details, upgrade plans, technical diagrams, knowledge‑base articles, and operational handoff materials.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for incidents, recurring issues, service degradation, application risk, vendor support concerns, lifecycle concerns, and technical debt; provide clear analysis, recommendations, remediation support, and status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide peer guidance, knowledge sharing, standards reinforcement, and escalation support to other team members.
  • Model clear communication, accountability, sound judgment, urgency, security awareness, and customer‑focused service when working with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical experience, and enterprise service experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure services, enterprise application services, technical service management, software tooling administration, or a related enterprise IT role.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical contributor, service owner, escalation resource, or knowledgeable resource for enterprise services, platforms, tools, or application service capabilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows Server services, identity lifecycle processes, access administration, group policy concepts, service delivery practices, and enterprise collaboration and identity services.
  • Experience coordinating patching, monitoring, alerting, observability, certificate lifecycle management, Azure AVD/VDI services, endpoint or infrastructure service dependencies, operational readiness, recurring maintenance processes, and production support activities.
  • Experience maintaining inventories of third‑party applications, engineering tools, SaaS platforms, or vendor‑supported software, including ownership records, usage context, vendor contacts, support agreements, renewal timelines, version status, upgrade planning, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to understand, document, and explain how infrastructure services, third‑party applications, software engineering tools, integrations, and vendor platforms support company products, services, development workflows, security requirements, and operational processes.
  • Experience managing incident response, escalation coordination, change records, implementation planning, service requests, operational documentation, service catalogs, application inventories, and technical risk using IT service management platforms such as Jira Service Management.
  • Experience using monitoring, reporting, analytics, utilization, or observability tools such as DataDog, SolarWinds, Azure Monitor, Microsoft 365 admin reporting, SaaS administration portals, or similar platforms to support service performance, adoption, incident response, capacity, and operational reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize competing technical and operational demands, make sound recommendations in production support situations, collaborate across teams, and communicate effectively with leadership, technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present status, risks, implementation plans, operational impacts, technical considerations, and follow‑up actions clearly and professionally.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting distributed or remote teams delivering enterprise infrastructure services, application services, collaboration platforms, identity services, engineering tools, or production support functions.

  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting and automation tools used to support configuration management, reporting, evidence gathering, repeatable operational tasks, service validation, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
  • Experience supporting software asset management, vendor governance, tool rationalization, license optimization, application lifecycle planning, feature adoption campaigns, service catalogs, or technology value realization initiatives.
  • Experience supporting regulated or compliance‑driven environments with security, audit, access control, documentation, operational evidence, and change control requirements.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, Check Point, ITIL, or equivalent infrastructure, networking, cloud, security, collaboration, identity, or service management certifications.
