Job summary

HII Mission Technologies' Uncrewed Systems (UxS) group seeks Systems Engineers at multiple levels to develop, integrate, test, and field autonomous maritime vehicles. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team applying systems engineering to solve challenging, real‑world problems.

Positions range from entry to senior level; must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance. Competitive salary with a broad range and travel up to 10%. This is a full‑time, exempt role based in Pocasset, MA.

This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software.

HII Unmanned Systems (UxS) has anexciting systems engineeringrole to develop, integrate, test, and field autonomous maritime vehicles. As our new Systems Engineer you will apply strong systems, integration and test experience and technical knowledge to solve the challenges in engineering unmanned systems. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and will perform the following duties:

  • Analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of unmanned marine vehicles and support technology
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer and mission needs into system requirements
What you will be doing..

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

What we are looking for..

We are looking to hire for multiple levels in Systems Engineering

  • Level 1 - 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Level 2 - 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Level 3 - 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4 - 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a goverment clearance #LI-MH1
Bonus Points for..
  • Domain knowledge and contextual understanding of robotics and use of robotics in naval mission space, especially autonomous vehicles
  • Experience with requirements management
  • Experience with JAMA or similar requirements management tools
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for Model Based Design, Simulation and Data Analysis.
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (e.g., JIRA/Confluence).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual that can work in a fast paced environment; with a high attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and enthusiastic attitude.
Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
