Job summary

V2X is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 (NOC) to support our Norfolk, Virginia government customer. The role is onsite and requires an active clearance. You will manage Navy NOC systems, perform troubleshooting, and train on-site personnel to resolve network issues.

Candidates should have DoD/Navy network experience, excellent communication, and the ability to work with multiple SMEs. The position offers challenging mission-focused work and opportunities across the Shore Network.

Qualifications

• BS in Information Technology or equivalent technical degree or 8+ years of related experience.
• 6+ years of experience with DoD enterprise or Navy networks.
• 6+ years of experience troubleshooting networks and OS issues across multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Support Navy NOCs; on-site troubleshooting for cross-system issues.
• Provide training to Fleet NOC personnel.
• Coordinate repair of installed C4I systems and network devices.
• Ensure shore facilities are operational to meet fleet requirements.
• Support NOC restoral and rapid issue response.
• Support VOIP/VOSIP and CUCM configuration.
• Provide on-site IT hardware/software upgrade support.
• Maintain system architecture configuration and CM.
• Recommend upgrade or modification paths for integration.
• Suggest alternative networking strategies.
• Assist with preliminary network testing after upgrades.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer 3 (NOC) to support our Norfolk, Virginia government customer. The position is required to be onsite and hold an active Secret, TS, or TS/SCI clearance.

The Shore Network Engineer SR provides support for the various systems located at the U.S. Navy’s Network Operations Centers (NOCs). The position support includes administration and maintenance of systems, use and development of standard operating procedures, coordination of troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues on supported units across multiple circuits and systems and facilities. The candidate will provide training to on-site Navy personnel and assist those personnel in resolving ship-to-shore, shore-to-ship and NOC-to-NOC networking issues. Clearance requirement: Secret, TS, or TS/SCI dependent on location.

Responsibilities

• Candidate will be responsible for supporting Navy NOCs. Conducts on site troubleshooting and maintenance assistance for problems that cross multiple systems.
• Provides training on new systems and works processes for Fleet NOC personnel.
• Coordinate repair of installed C4I systems to include servers, routers, switches, firewalls and other network security devices.
• Support shore-based facilities to ensure those facilities are fully operational to meet the requirements of fleet units/ships assigned permanently or temporarily to the AOR. Support fleet units/ships as required to ensure connectivity to Naval networks.
• Provide support for NOC restoral in case of outages and rapid response for emergent issues.
• Provide local and distance support of VOIP/VOSIP phones and manage/configure CISCO Unified Call Manger (CUCM) suite of equipment.
• Provide on-site engineering and technical support for the integration of IT hardware and software upgrades.
• Provide support for maintenance of the system architecture configuration and maintain configuration management to meet the site program objectives; on-site support shall provide activity based technical and engineering support for process configuration.
• Provide recommendations for alternative courses of action to more effectively accomplish the integration of upgrades and modifications.
• Provide recommendations for improvement or alternative networking strategies.
• Assist in conducting preliminary network testing after integration and configuration of site upgrades and modifications.
• Support Information Assurance, to include adherence to IA policies, operations of IA related systems (HBSS/ACAS, IDS, Antivirus, firewalls).
• Interacting with multiple customer organizations will be required.
• Less than 5% travel may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 8+ years technical experience in related discipline required.
• 6+ years of experience with DoD enterprise or Navy networks. Fleet NOC experience highly desired.
• 6+ years of experience in troubleshooting networks and operating system issues across multiple systems.

Preferred Certifications

• IAT2 certifications required for both OS and IA (Security+ CE or equivalent required).
• CCNA or equivalent applicable network OS (Juniper, etc.) required. Certification as CISSP or equivalent for IA (IAT3 per DoD Inst 8570.1) may be required, and candidate must be able to obtain within 6 months of direction.
• Windows Server and VMWare training/certifications highly desired. Higher level CISCO certifications highly desired.

Skills

• Communicate well both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to troubleshoot across multiple systems, including those off-site and work with other SMEs to determine cause and actions to take for restoration. Must be able to work with/train local military personnel to assist in resolution of problems.
• Must be able to provide OJT to technical personnel and modify technical documentation including BoMs, SOVTs, BESEP inputs, and other system engineering documentation.
• Must have the ability to create or support the creation of technical presentations under the direction of Navy or government officials.

Clearance

• Depending on location Top Secret/SCI Clearance may be required.
