Job summary

Reflexive Concepts is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 to join our team in Fort Meade. The role analyzes requirements, develops system specifications, and leads design and development activities, ensuring technical integrity.

You will interact with government stakeholders, produce technical documentation, and guide planning for system integration and testing, applying knowledge of dataflow and security boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in a qualified engineering field from an accredited university.
  • Education-based experience: HS diploma 12 yrs, Bachelor 7 yrs, Master 5 yrs, PhD 3 yrs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops system requirements specifications from user requirements and architectures.
  • Leads design and development activities; ensures technical integrity of work.
  • Produces technical documentation and system design artifacts.
  • Guides system development and implementation planning through SE plans and test plans.
  • Interacts with Government regarding SE considerations and issues.
  • Communicates with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Job description

Reflexive Concepts is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 to join our team!

Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities. Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies. Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology. Incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations. Develops technical documentation. Develops system architecture and system design documentation. Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans. Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts. Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility. Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Qualifications:
  • Systems engineering experience based on the highest level of education attained; degrees must be in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university:
    • High School Diploma or GED — 12 years.
    • Bachelor’s degree — 7 years.
    • Master’s degree — 5 years.
    • PhD — 3 years.
Position Details:
  • Autonomous Dataflow Plan Engineering: synthesize high-level operational requirements into detailed, end-to-end dataflow plans, defining ingest points, transformation steps, security/compliance boundary crossings, and destination endpoints.
  • Independent Problem Solution: analyze and resolve complex dataflow routing issues where standardized documentation or procedures are insufficient or non-existent.
  • Rapid Domain Acquisition: independently research, analyze, and master new or unfamiliar systems and tools to address emerging operational needs.
  • SOP Adaptation and Knowledge Capture: leverage existing baseline documentation as a preliminary guide, while synthesizing tailor‑made solutions into formal, repeatable procedures and technical recommendations.
  • Desired — Tooling and Workflow Tracking: familiarity with knowledge management and ticketing tools such as Confluence and Jira, used to track team progress, identify and address documentation gaps, and maintain comprehensive records of dataflows, workflows, and routing anomalies.
