Job summary

Dataprise in Virginia Beach seeks a Systems Engineer I to join our Service Delivery team for hands-on, onsite work across our client base. Responsibilities include network equipment installation, desktop and laptop deployment, printer setup, and on-site troubleshooting for diverse clients including law firms and dental practices.

The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, and comfortable working independently at client sites in the VA Beach area.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in IT, Network Administration, or related field (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ticketing/PSA systems such as ConnectWise Manage.
  • Exposure to MDM/RMM tools or endpoint deployment platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical installation and configuration of network equipment (switches, access points, firewalls, routers) under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Deploy, image, and configure desktop and laptop computers for new hires, replacements, and refresh projects.
  • Install, configure, and test printers, scanners, and multifunction devices, including network printer setup and driver deployment.
  • Rack and stack hardware, run and terminate low‑voltage cabling as needed, and maintain clean, documented equipment closets.
  • Respond to onsite service tickets covering hardware, software, connectivity, and peripheral issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve workstation, network connectivity, and printing problems at client locations.
  • Escalate complex issues to Systems Engineer II/III or senior technical staff with clear documentation of steps already taken.
  • Coordinate with the Service Desk and dispatch team to prioritize and schedule onsite visits.
  • Serve as the face of Dataprise during onsite visits, delivering a professional, courteous client experience.
  • Communicate technical issues and resolutions to non‑technical client staff in clear, accessible language.
  • Identify additional client needs or risks observed onsite and relay them to the account team.
  • Log all work performed accurately and promptly in ConnectWise Manage, including time, resolution notes, and asset updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, serial numbers, and configurations in the client's documentation system.
  • Follow established checklists and runbooks for standard deployment and installation tasks.

About the Role:

Dataprise is seeking a Systems Engineer I to join our Service Delivery team as a field-focused technical resource. This role is responsible for hands‑on, onsite technical work across our client base, including network equipment installations, desktop and laptop deployments, printer setup and configuration, and general onsite troubleshooting. This is an entry to early‑career level engineering position, ideal for a candidate looking to build a strong foundation in managed IT services while working directly with clients in law firms, dental practices, defense contractors, and other industries.

What You’ll Do:

Compensation:

  • We have a comprehensive Compensation Management System which establishes the guidelines we use in making compensation decisions and is comprised of compensation policies, salary structures, salary grades, incentive target guidelines, job descriptions, and career charts.
  • This position’s Salary Range is: $70,0000-$80,000 (NOTE: this is the range at the national average level; specific salaries offered will be adjusted higher/lower due to the local labor market of the candidate).
