Cook Inc - Bloomington is seeking a Systems Engineer 1 to support the enterprise-wide MES software and related systems through design, implementation, and sustaining activities. You will work with process owners to optimize MES processes and support users across the MES lifecycle.

The role involves coordinating with IT for MES validation, developing training materials, and leading MES functionality deployments.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define business needs and user requirements with stakeholders.
  • Understand MES design and its interaction with other systems.
  • Lead design of MES system functionality.
  • Develop procedures for MES management and usage.
  • Coordinate MES validation with IT team.
  • Create training materials for new MES functionality.
  • Coordinate data migration, policy changes and training for MES implementations.
  • Capture lessons learned after implementations.
  • Document and resolve gaps in MES.
  • Communicate upcoming changes to stakeholders and users.
  • Govern MES policies and procedures.
  • Monitor MES performance and improvement metrics.
  • Identify and manage MES improvement projects.
  • Assess supplier upgrades and coordinate action with IT.
  • Maintain up-to-date MES procedures and training materials.
  • Ensure compliance with MES policies and procedures.
  • Work safely and professionally with global teams.

Overview

Support Cook's enterprise-wide manufacturing execution system (MES) software and related systems according to system life cycle state, including design, implementation and sustaining activities; the Systems Engineer may support activities in one or more of these life cycle states. The Systems Engineer works with process owners to optimize processes utilizing MES software, provide input to MES design, and to support users in use of MES.

Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to define business needs and user requirements
  • Understand MES design, including how MES influences other systems
  • Participate in and/or lead the design of MES system functionality
  • Develop procedures for management and utilization of the MES system
  • Work with IT to coordinate MES system validation
  • Develop training materials to support new MES system functionality
  • Coordinate with site teams to implement new MES functionality, including data migration, policy/procedural changes, and training
  • Ensure that lessons learned are captured following implementation
  • Ensure that existing gaps are documented and resolved
  • Communicate with stakeholders and users on upcoming changes
  • Communicate and govern MES policies and procedures
  • Monitor MES performance data and improvement metrics
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage MES system improvement projects
  • Assess MES system upgrades from suppliers and coordinate with IT to recommend action
  • Draft/update global MES procedures to support functionality; maintain procedures and training materials to reflect system changes
  • Assess compliance with established MES policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve overall efficiency, consistency and alignment across Cook
  • Understand and be accountable for conducting Cook business with integrity and in compliance with applicable standards, including Cook policies.
  • Within scope of responsibility, ensure all quality, regulatory, compliance, and product-specific requirements are met
  • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization.

Qualifications
  • College degree required and/or equivalent relevant work experience in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical
  • Experience across a broad range of MES tools, data, and processes
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience as a project manager and/or work related to the design, implementation, or sustaining of electronic Manufacturing systems
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working in a global environment / global teams across many cultures and regions, managing and executing complex projects/programs in an engineering environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Works under general office environment conditions.
  • Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers and equipment.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate.
