AGE Solutions provides technology and professional services to DoD customers, focusing on storage, backup, and cloud/on‑premises environments. The Systems Engineer will support a DoD client with provisioning, administration, and optimization of storage, backup, and DR capabilities.

Onsite roles require commuting distance to Richmond, VA or Tracy, CA, with multiple certifications and a Top Secret or Secret clearance. The position offers growth and robust benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in engineering field including storage and backup software implementations
• 2+ years with enterprise SAN management (Fiber Channel, iSCSI, HBA/CNA, RAID, NAS)
• 2+ years with enterprise storage systems and backup/restore services (Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity)
• DoD IT systems experience is required; must reside within commutable distance to Richmond, VA or Tracy, CA for onsite work

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support a DoD customer with storage and backup requirements across multiple on-premises and cloud environments. The selected candidate will provide engineering and administration support.

Responsibilities Include

• Responsible for effective provisioning, operation, installation/configuration, and maintenance of systems hardware/software/related infrastructure.
• Provides technical support, guidance and hands‑on delivery in the planning, implementation, and ongoing operations.
• Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
• Ensured that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and regulatory requirements.
• Documents specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results.
• Depicts complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and status to project teams.
• Develops, integrates, and oversees storage arrays, fiber switches, backup solutions, and associated components.
• Monitors and reports on existing data restore and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Provides recommendations on process improvement/efficiencies.
• Maintains and oversees data backup solutions to ensure mission objective are met.
• Researches, builds, and implements file sharing technologies to meet customer requirements.
• Troubleshoots and advises on advanced storage issues/deficiencies.
• Performs routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance.
• Performs storage analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of storage components.
• Authors and reviews operational procedures/documentation in relation to new and existing technologies.
• Authors/documents policies and procedures to support the operational storage environment and participates in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies.
• Prepares reports on storage administration best practices, new technologies, etc., and recommends enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize existing storage technologies.

Required Skills, Qualifications, And Experience

• Experience:
  • Three (3) years of overall professional experience in the engineering field. This includes evaluating, constructing, and integrating enterprise-level storage and backup software technologies.
  • Two (2) years hands‑on experience with enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management to include capabilities and technologies such as: Fiber Channel zoning, iSCSI, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) unified fabric, HBA/CNA (Host Bus Adapter/Converged Network Adapter), storage controllers, and LUN (Logical Unit Number), RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), and file sharing / NAS (Network Addressable Storage).
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise hierarchical storage system management; operation of enterprise backup/restore services, using software such as Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity Cloud.
  • Two (2) years hands‑on experience working with Department of War (DoW) IT systems.
• Clearance:
  • Top Secret Clearance or Secret Clearance with favorably adjudicated Tier 5/SSBI investigation.
• Certifications:
  • Must have a compliant DoD 8570 IAT II Certification such as: CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, or GCIH
  • Must also have one of the following current certifications:
    • AWS CSA Associate
    • AWS CSA Professional
    • GIAC GDSA
    • MC: Azure AA
    • MC: Azure SAE
    • NetApp Certified Data Administrator
    • NetApp Certified hybrid Cloud Implementation Engineer

  • Must reside within commutable distance of either Richmond, VA or Tracy, CA in order to work onsite full time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications from multiple vendors including Pure, NetApp, Microsoft, AWS, and Google Cloud.

Work Environment And Physical Demand

• Must be able to work from a computer for extended hours in an office environment and be able to work from comm closets when/as needed.

The projected salary range for this position is $110,000+ annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including years of relevant experience, active security clearance level, certifications, technical skillset, contract requirements, and overall qualifications.
