Job summary

Progression Inc. seeks a Systems Engineer SME (TS/SCI Full Scope Poly) to design, automate, and sustain mission-critical government systems. You will work with Nutanix/VMs, AWS, and diverse DevOps activities to improve performance and reliability.

The role requires deep Linux expertise, strong problem-solving, and the ability to mentor other engineers while complying with stringent security standards in Agile environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly required.
• Experienced Systems Engineer with 11+ years in design and engineering.
• DevOps/System Administrator experience and AWS cloud troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and software development background.
• Experience with GitHub and source control systems.
• Experience supporting and automating virtual environments (Nutanix/VMs).
• Familiar with Agile processes and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and train engineers, follow strict security standards.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in CS/CE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, automate, and support systems for a government customer.

• Experienced Systems Engineer (Systems Engineer)
• 11+ years of professional systems design and engineering experience
• Experience working as a DevOps Systems Engineer / Technical Administrator
• Experience troubleshooting AWS / cloud implementation issues
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and software development experience
• Experience with GitHub and other source control systems
• Experience supporting and automating virtual environments including Nutanix and virtual machines
• Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement
• Ability to follow strict security standards and organizational requirements
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

DUTIES

• Engineer, automate, and support systems for a mission-critical Government customer
• Support and optimize systems operating within virtual environments including Nutanix and VMs
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and automation
• Troubleshoot AWS cloud infrastructure and implementation issues
• Troubleshoot Linux operating systems and software applications
• Support DevOps engineering, administration, deployment, and automation efforts
• Manage and maintain source control environments including GitHub
• Develop and improve automated infrastructure and deployment processes
• Work within Agile development environments to continuously improve technical processes
• Maintain compliance with customer security requirements and engineering standards
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across the team
• Support multiple technical priorities with limited supervision

PREFERRED

• Hands-on AWS, Azure, or other cloud environment experience
• Python development experience
• Ansible development and automation experience
• OpenText NNMi experience
• Cisco NSO experience
• Experience building and deploying cloud infrastructure
• Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar deployment technologies
• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
• Scrum / Agile development experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
