Job summary

INSPYR Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer for an onsite, 12-month engagement in Redmond, WA. The role focuses on battery test systems, RCA, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to validate and document test results.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in engineering and 3+ years of testing/validation experience, with Python/JMP data analysis skills and strong reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform systematic RCA on hardware, test systems, and failures.
• Troubleshoot battery test equipment, instrumentation, and automated systems.
• Execute battery pack validation testing across functional, environmental, electrical, and reliability areas.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and failure mechanisms.
• Develop clear technical reports with findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
• Present findings to cross-functional teams and support design reviews.
• Maintain accurate test records, issue tracking, and docs throughout the lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to improve test methods, automation, and data workflows.
• Assist in developing test procedures, work instructions, and validation plans.
• Ensure testing complies with lab safety and procedures.

Job description

Title: Systems Engineer

Location: Redmond, WA

Duration: 12 months

Compensation: $44-64/hr

Work Requirements: Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

This is a fully onsite position.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU

• Perform systematic Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on hardware, test systems, and test equipment failures using structured engineering methodologies.
• Troubleshoot battery test equipment, instrumentation, and automated test systems.
• Execute battery pack validation testing, including functional, environmental, electrical, and reliability testing.
• Analyze large volumes of battery performance, test, and diagnostic data to identify trends, anomalies, and failure mechanisms.
• Develop clear technical reports summarizing test results, engineering findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
• Present technical findings to cross-functional engineering teams and support technical design reviews.
• Maintain accurate test records, issue tracking, and engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to improve test methods, automation, data analysis workflows, and overall laboratory efficiency.
• Assist in developing test procedures, work instructions, and validation plans.
• Ensure all testing activities comply with laboratory safety requirements and established operating procedures.

Key Success Factors

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in testing, validation, manufacturing, or product development.
• Experience executing engineering test plans and documenting technical results.
• Experience analyzing engineering data using Python, JMP, or similar tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing lithium-ion battery systems or Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Experience performing Root Cause Analysis using methodologies such as:
  • 5 Whys
  • Fishbone Diagram
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Experience using laboratory instrumentation, including:
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
  • Electronic Loads
  • Power Supplies
  • Data Acquisition (DAQ) Systems
  • CAN Bus tools
• Familiarity with Python scripting for test automation or engineering data processing.
• Experience working in aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, defense, or other high-reliability industries.
• Experience using issue tracking and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
