Job summary

Qualifications

• Maintain and support desktop developer tooling used by engineering teams.
• Diagnose tooling across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
• Manage upgrades, releases, configuration changes, and lifecycle of desktop tools.
• Monitor tool health, usage, and user feedback to identify improvements.
• Serve as escalation point for complex platform and tooling issues.
• Experience with IDEs (VS Code) and extension ecosystems.
• Experience with application installation and deployment on Windows/macOS.
• Work across teams to deliver platform capabilities used by diverse engineers.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and CI/CD/DevOps practices.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with DevAssist tools such as GitHub Copilot and Gemini Code Assist.

Platform Engineer

The Role

Are you a forward-thinking technologist ready to make a lasting impact? Join our dynamic team at Fidelity Investments, where the Fidelity Architecture and Engineering team is seeking a Platform Engineer for our Developer Desktop Tooling team.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Support and maintain existing developer desktop applications and tooling used by engineering teams.

• Diagnose and resolve tooling issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.

• Manage upgrades, releases, configuration changes, and lifecycle management of desktop tools.

• Monitor tool health, usage patterns, and user feedback to identify improvement opportunities.

• Serve as an escalation point for complex platform and tooling issues.

• Experience with IDEs (VS Code or similar) and extension/plugin ecosystems

• Experience with application installation and deployment solutions for Windows/macOS platforms

• Working across organizational boundaries to deliver platform capabilities used by diverse engineering teams

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) along with solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex systems

• Experience leveraging DevAssist tools such as GitHub Copilot and Gemini Code Assist to optimize development workflows

Bonus Skills

• Experience working with the open source community

• Cloud Certifications in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes or similar
