Job description

Payrate: $56.00- $57.00/hr.

Summary

The Autonomous Truck Integration & Validation Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and validating testing activities for autonomous haul truck systems. This role works at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, software, and autonomous technologies to ensure system performance, reliability, and safety in demanding mining environments. The engineer will collaborate closely with operators, software developers, and cross‑functional teams to identify issues, analyze test results, and drive continuous improvements in autonomous machine functionality.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, update, and maintain test and validation plans for autonomous haul truck systems.
  • Execute field testing and validation activities on autonomous machines and related technologies.
  • Analyze test data to identify performance trends, system issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and software‑related issues.
  • Document testing results, defects, and observations with clear and detailed reports.
  • Provide recommendations based on testing outcomes and operational experience.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to communicate findings and support issue resolution.
  • Interface with expert machine operators and stakeholders to ensure successful test execution.
  • Ensure testing activities are conducted safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to autonomous vehicle performance and validation processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent experience in control systems, vehicle development, engine systems, testing, or autonomous technologies may be considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or 7–8 years with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in vehicle testing, validation, integration, or development environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving complex mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
  • Proficiency with Windows‑based computer systems and standard engineering tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate findings effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Ubuntu or Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of autonomous systems, including perception, planning, positioning, and vehicle controls.
  • Experience creating test plans, validation procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment, mining equipment, construction machinery, or autonomous vehicles.

Pay Transparency

The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is $56.00–$57.00/hour. Non‑exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience. Full‑time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, life insurance benefits, health savings accounts with qualified medical plan enrollment, 10 paid days off, 3 days paid bereavement leave, 401(k) plan participation with employer match, life and disability insurance, commuter benefits, dependent care flexible spending account, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, accommodations and reimbursement for work travel, and discretionary performance or recognition bonus.
