Systems Engineer
Leidos offers a Senior Systems Engineer role in the Intel Sector’s Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). The position focuses on Security Engineering, Computer Network Operations, Mission Software, Analytical Methods and Modeling, Signals Intelligence, and Cryptographic Key Management.
Job Summary
A Senior Systems Engineer will join an agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The role requires in‑depth expertise to design and develop complex systems with stringent interface, performance, and security requirements. Duties include architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. The engineer will support system development and implementation planning, create system configuration documentation, conduct risk assessments, and assist in test procedures.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide guidance for large‑scale system engineering in a geographically distributed network environment.
- Offer technical support for future system enhancements and design.
- Maintain System Engineering Documentation.
- Analyze alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methods.
- Collaborate with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other team members in an Agile environment.
- Implement engineering practices that meet rigorous engineering standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal technical staff and customer representatives.
- Participate in program increment planning and Agile team activities.
- Provide technical assistance for data gathering and auditing across multiple data centers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field with at least 8 years’ experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 10 years’ experience. Substitution of work experience for a degree is acceptable.
- In-depth experience with system architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow design, network design/implementation, testing, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with data centers and server rooms, including rack‑based servers, switches, KVMs, routers, backup and recovery devices, firewalls, and security appliances.
- 1–3 years’ experience with infrastructure components such as servers, switches, and firewalls.
- 5+ years of experience in system architecture design, building, and integration.
- 5+ years working on large complex system architectures.
- Experience with requirements verification traceability.
- Ability to analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system requirements specifications.
- Experience with hardware and software transitions, lifecycle data gathering, and secure systems engineering.
- Comfortable managing multiple systems and components in diverse configurations.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and communication skills regarding technical options and trade‑offs.
- Capability to support Agile teams on large programs and commitment to best practices.
Clearance Required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning legacy systems to new architectures.
- Model‑based systems engineering knowledge.
- Risk management or risk register experience.
- SAFe methodology experience or Agile team membership.
- Administrative experience on Windows Server and Linux Server platforms.
