Job Summary
A Senior Systems Engineer will join an agile team that uses the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The role requires deep expertise to design and develop complex systems meeting exacting interface, performance, and security requirements. Responsibilities include providing architecture and design expertise, supporting system development, planning, and integration, creating engineering documentation, performing risk assessments, and developing test procedures.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large‑scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems with geographically distributed components.
- Provide technical guidance and support for future system enhancements and design.
- Update System Engineering Documentation.
- Perform Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.
- Interface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
- Develop and implement system engineering practices that apply appropriate engineering rigor to assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with internal technical professionals and customer representatives as needed.
- Actively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.
- Provide hands‑on technical assistance for data gathering and auditing across multiple data centers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field, with at least 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience. Work experience may substitute for a degree.
- In‑depth experience in system architecture, design, requirements analysis, data flow design, network design/implementation, testing, and technical documentation.
- Experience with data centers or server rooms, including rack‑based servers, network switches, KVMs, routers, backup and recovery devices, firewalls, and security appliances.
- 1–3 years of experience with infrastructure components such as servers, switches, firewalls, and enterprise infrastructure hardware.
- 5+ years in system architecture design, building, and integration.
- 5+ years in large complex system architecture development.
- Requirements verification traceability experience.
- Experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and system requirements specifications.
- Experience with discovery, research, and analysis for hardware and software transitions.
- Experience gathering information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software.
- Solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development.
- Ability to manage multiple systems and components across various configurations.
- Effective planning, prioritization, and clear communication of technical options and trade‑offs.
- Capability to perform systems engineering tasks supporting Agile teams on large programs.
- Commitment to adopting, adhering to, and championing best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning legacy systems to new architectures.
- Experience with model‑based systems engineering.
- Experience with risk management and risk register.
- Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or as a member of an Agile team.
- Experience administering Windows Server and Linux Server platforms.
Clearance Required
- Must hold TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Salary and Benefits
Pay Range: $107,900.00 – $195,050.00 (general guideline; final offer based on responsibilities, experience, and other factors).
