The role is full-time, on-site in Coronado, CA, with travel up to 10%. Candidates must hold TS/SCI eligibility and U.S. citizenship, with a strong background in engineering and acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • DAWIA practitioner equivalency; level II in TE or E, Level III desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience across programs, contracts, and policy.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts for government counterparts.
  • Provides expert-level support to government regarding engineering and analysis processes.
  • Completes advanced engineering tasks such as reviewing ECPs, waivers/deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Delivers status briefings to leadership on programs, issues, and resolutions.
  • Analyzes trends in performance indicators to support process improvements.

Systems Engineer
Overview

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Systems Engineer in support of the Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) Directorate of Science & Technology.

DIR-S&T discovers, evaluates, and accelerates emerging technologies to preserve SOF's operational advantage by linking operators with government labs, academia, industry, and international partners. Through rapid assessment events, technical experimentation, and streamlined collaboration mechanisms, DIRS&T reduces duplication, leverages external R&D, and matures high-potential solutions across priority capability areas such as warfighter performance, battlespace awareness, resilient communications and computing, scalable effects, and signature reduction. The directorate also drives the transition of prototypes and software into acquisition pathways, strengthening innovation pipelines and expanding SOF's access to non-traditional partners and small business technology.

This is a full-time opportunity located in Coronado, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
  • Provides significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
  • Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Provides expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
  • Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility

Certifications: DAWIA Practitioner Equivalency IAW the PWS (DAWIA level II equivalent), and in Test and Evaluation or Engineering (systems, computer, or electrical) or equivalent fields. DAWIA Level III desired.

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering,

Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience to include:

  • Experience in evaluating technologies for incorporation into identified Program Office portfolios, developing/managing technical contracts, and identifying/coordinating technical issues and policy across various technical capability areas
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition Framework process.
  • Knowledge of technical, price, and cost analysis sufficient to review proposals, actual and estimated expenditures to determine reasonableness or to determine a negotiation position.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of fact-finding, analysis, and resolution of complex contracting problems, and the ability to develop concrete action plans to solve problems.
