Job summary

Bay Systems Consulting, Inc. (BSC) is seeking a 2NWS Systems Engineer Lead for a role at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs. The position leads SE&I activities under government direction and coordinates across space, ground, hardware, and software domains.

The successful candidate will maintain an active SECRET clearance (TS/SCI possible) and will work with Air Force/Space Force customers, delivering analyses, risk mitigations, and program documentation to support modernization and sustainment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Active SECRET security clearance, ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Experience with Air Force/Space Force customers in operations and sustainment.
• Experience writing technical documents, analyses, and briefings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to provide on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of SE&Is with priorities from the government.
• Ensure requirements integration across space and ground, hardware and software, and operator interfaces.
• Provide engineering analysis support and requirements development for system modernization.
• Coordinate with prime contractor and government leads to generate and maintain system engineer process training.
• Support the GWCC operations engineering element when required.
• Assist customer in defining, capturing, and developing risk mitigation actions and assessing impacts of changes.
• Develop, document, and evolve systems engineering processes for SSC/PNT Enterprise efforts.
• Assess proposed changes for impacts to operational requirements and capabilities.
• Develop briefs, plans, papers, and other documentation for SSC/PNT decision making.
• Collaborate with prime contractors, other contractors, government civilians, and USAF/USSF members.
• Participate in IPTs, Product Support Manager meetings, and other programmatic activities.

Duties

• Leading a team of SE&I personnel with assignment of responsibilities with direction from the government on priorities.
• Ensuring effective requirements integration across operational space and ground, hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations for control segment capabilities with an eye towards the weapon system operator
• Interacting with government leads to provide engineering analysis support and requirements development for system modernization
• Coordinating with the prime Contractor and government leads to generate and maintain system engineer process training with a goal of increasing efficiency.
• Support for the operations engineering element and the GPS Warfighter Collaboration Cell (GWCC) when required.
• Supporting the customer in defining, capturing, and developing risk mitigation courses of action and assessing impacts of risks and proposed changes
• Developing, documenting, executing, integrating, and evolving systems engineering processes as required to enable effective SSC/PNT Enterprise systems engineering and integration efforts
• Assessing proposed Enterprise baseline changes for impacts to operational system requirements and capabilities, and future sustainability
• Developing operations and sustainment related briefings, plans, papers, and other documentation in support of SSC/PNT Enterprise decision making
• Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force
• Participating in Integrated Product Teams, Product Support Manager meetings, and other programmatic, operations, and sustainment activities

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience
• Active SECRET security clearance
• Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/Space Force/DoW customers in an operations and sustainment environment, with Space Systems (especially at SSC)
• Experience writing and delivering technical documents, analysis, and briefings
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as being highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to provide on-call support as needed
