Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Systems Deployment Engineer to bridge software, OT, and field operations. You will deploy, configure, validate, and support Linux-based OT infrastructure powering energy storage and renewable sites.

Work with Manufacturing, Controls Engineering, SCADA, Networking, and Commissioning to ensure systems are built, deployed, tested, and commissioned before sites go live. Energy sector experience is preferred.

Job Description

The Systems Deployment Engineer serves as the bridge between software, operational technology (OT), and field operations. This individual is responsible for deploying, configuring, validating, and supporting Linux-based OT infrastructure that powers utility-scale battery energy storage and renewable energy sites. This role is heavily focused on Linux administration, automation, infrastructure deployment, and OT systems support, with a strong preference for candidates coming from the energy, utility, renewable energy, industrial automation, or critical infrastructure sectors.

You will work closely with Manufacturing, Controls Engineering, SCADA, Networking, and Commissioning teams to ensure systems are properly built, configured, deployed, tested, and commissioned before sites become operational.

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Deployment, IT/OT Integration, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related role.

Strong Linux administration experience, including deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualized environments.

Proven experience deploying and managing infrastructure using Ansible.

Experience scripting with Bash and/or Python.

Basic networking knowledge, including IP networking, connectivity troubleshooting, firewalls, and VLAN concepts.

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, or MQTT Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or power generation projects.

Experience working within Agile environments and utilizing JIRA for project tracking.

Previous experience supporting commissioning and startup of utility-scale energy facilities.
