Job description

Position Summary

Odyssey is recruiting for a System Cybersecurity Engineer to join our elite team at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In this role, you will be a hands‑on cybersecurity subject matter expert responsible for the full integration of cybersecurity across all phases of the system lifecycle—from acquisition and design through development, testing, fielding, operations, sustainment, and compliance assessment. You will operate at the intersection of system engineering and cybersecurity, ensuring that mission‑critical systems remain secure, compliant, and operationally resilient. All work will be performed in alignment with contract requirements and coordinated by the Information System Security Managers (ISSMs).

Responsibilities

  • Security implementation: Implementing and maintaining robust technical defenses to protect critical assets and secure infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and incident response: Continuously monitoring for potential threats and responding quickly to security incidents to minimize damage and restore operations.
  • Training and awareness: Educating employees and customers on cyber risks and promoting security through training and awareness programs, including required Government Training (DET 5) and other specific training.
  • Audits and compliance: Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements and regulations such as Annual Control Validations and Cyber risk assessments.
  • Third‑party risk management: Managing the security of vendors and partners to prevent potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Manual 8140.03/8570.01‑M baseline certification requirements for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III or Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II/III (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, CISM).
  • Register, review, and maintain system Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) data. Ensure all boundary defenses (firewalls, routers) are configured in accordance with DISA PPSM Category Assurance List (CAL) requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the Agile Kanban construct to streamline the RMF lifecycle, actively reducing bottlenecks in artifact collection and eMASS package processing for a smooth workflow.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) at the Engineering Review Board (ERB) level.
  • Conduct early‑stage Security Impact Analysis (SIA) to identify RMF control implications and ensure technical requirements for NCMC‑ITW/AA and Legacy Space systems are met before development begins.
Qualifications
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Top‑Secret Security Clearance.
  • Certification: DoD IAM Level I (CAP, CND, Cloud+, GSLC, Security+ CE, CISSP).
  • Education: High School Diploma.
