Job summary

Nyla Technology Solutions in Annapolis Junction, MD, seeks a Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer (SA1–SA3) to strengthen Linux infrastructure, automation, and security across on‑prem and AWS. You will implement Ansible/SaltStack configurations, manage FreeIPA identities, enforce SSP controls, and support STE/STN standards in a collaborative, fast‑moving mission environment.

Eligible candidates hold TS/SCI polygraph eligibility and have 5+ years of relevant experience with virtualization

Qualifications

• Deep, hands‑on Linux administration and hardening.
• Experience provisioning and patch orchestration with Ansible and SaltStack.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or Perl to automate tasks.
• Experience with KVM virtualization and storage management.
• Identity management with FreeIPA/Red Hat IdM.
• SSP compliance and STE/STN control alignment on Linux systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/CE/Engineering or 5+ years of software development, OR High School/GED with 10+ years of hands‑on engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

The annual base salary range for this role is $115,000-$214,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Required Skills

• Linux System Administration: Deep, hands‑on experience administering, configuring, and hardening Linux operating environments.
• Infrastructure Automation: Demonstrated experience using Ansible and/or SaltStack for automated provisioning, configuration management, and patch orchestration.
• Scripting Proficiency: Practical ability to write clean, effective scripts in Bash, Python, Perl, or similar languages to automate routine operational tasks.
• Virtualization & Storage: Hands‑on experience configuring and managing KVM virtualization, container platforms, and enterprise storage management.
• Identity Management: Applied experience managing centralized authentication and identity services, specifically FreeIPA / Red Hat IdM.
• Security & Compliance: Direct experience maintaining SSP compliance and executing STE/STN controls and STIG alignments on Linux systems.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 5+ years of professional software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 10+ years of hands‑on technical software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills

• Hands‑on operational experience within AWS cloud architectures (e.g., EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Advanced experience integrating containers and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Git‑based code management.
