IDEX Health & Science in West Henrietta, NY is seeking a Systems Assembler I-III to assemble optical sub-assemblies and final assemblies with high precision. The role requires following work instructions, reading engineering drawings, and adhering to clean room and ITAR protocols.

• Capable of working in an ITAR registered facility.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Clean & inspect optical components and mounts
• Read engineering drawings to determine specs.
• Assemble and Bond lens elements within mounts and barrels according to procedures
• Verify sub‑assemblies and final assemblies
• Follow clean room protocols.
• Maintain Assembly Tools and Area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO protocols.
• Complete and charge time to work orders and maintain job specific paperwork.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Clean & inspect optical components and mounts and assemble optical sub‑assemblies and final assemblies. This job requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity. The ability to follow work instructions and the ability to make decisions at various stages of assembly are keys to success for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Clean & inspect optical components and mounts
• 1.Use of MIL spec to inspect optical components with clear apertures
• 2.Ability to read engineering drawings to determine specs.
• 3.Post‑alignment/assembly cleaning and inspection
• Assemble and Bond lens elements within mounts and barrels according to procedures
• 1.Techniques for mounting and bonding lens elements within barrels - passive alignment
• Verification of sub‑assemblies and final assemblies
• 1.Tools and Techniques for diagnostics of sub‑assemblies and final assemblies for failure mode.
• Maintain Assembly Tools and Area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO protocols.
• Complete and charge time to work orders and maintain job specific paperwork throughout the process.
• Follow clean room protocols.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent. In the absence of Diploma or GED, 2+ years of relevant work experience or 2+ years of working in an optics or photonics field/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Clear communication skills.
• Strong technical aptitude and work ethic.
• Excels at performing consistent re‑occurring tasks over a duration of time.
• Able to learn new skills and job functions.
• Works well in a team environment.
• Initiative to perform a variety of tasks to meet desired goals.
• Very good manual dexterity.
• May require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
• Occasional lifting up to 15 – 45 lbs. as needed.
• Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.
• Capable of working in an ITAR registered facility.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require.

• Direct experience with the handling, processing, and cleaning of optical lenses and filters.
• Experience working with lasers, sub‑component assemblies, or optics.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $42,500.00 - $63,700.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
