Job description

Axiom Space is a human space exploration company, building era-defining space infrastructure and delivering technology-driven solutions that will empower civilization to transcend Earth. Beginning with Axiom Station, successor to the International Space Station, the company is pioneering a next-generation orbital settlement that will foster groundbreaking innovation and research in microgravity and drive the global space economy of tomorrow. Today, guided by the vision of leading humanity's expansion off planet, Axiom Space is the principal provider of commercial human spaceflight services and developer of advanced spacesuits for the Moon and beyond. For more information about Axiom Space, visit www.axiomspace.com. Axiom Space fosters a work environment inclusive of all perspectives. We are the pioneers of commercial space, leading the transformation of low-Earth orbit into a global space marketplace. Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic System Architect/Engineer who is fueled by high accountability, execution horsepower, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy System Architect/Engineers. A System Architect/Engineer is responsible for defining and maintaining the overall technical architecture of Axiom Station, ensuring that requirements, interfaces, performance, and design decisions remain aligned from concept through implementation. This role translates mission, customer, and stakeholder needs into structured system requirements, functional architectures, and integrated technical solutions across hardware, software, and operations. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to manage trade studies, technical risks, interfaces, and system-level decision making throughout the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong systems engineering fundamentals with the ability to think strategically, communicate early, and connect high-level objectives to detailed design execution. Experience with complex multidisciplinary systems, architecture development, and technical leadership in fast-paced environments is highly desirable.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain Axiom Station system architecture utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and MagicGrid/OOSEM Frameworks aligned with NASA NPR 7123. Collaborate with subsystem design owners using SolidWorks/PDM to ensure architecture alignment with mechanical and electrical constraints. Support system decomposition and requirements flow down across engineering disciplines. Generate architecture deliverables, trade analyses, and reports for internal technical reviews and program milestones. Coordinate closely with subsystem owners, program management, and mission operations to maintain consistent assumptions and integrated behavior. Conduct cross-discipline integration to identify risks, dependencies, and emergent system behaviors early in the product lifecycle. Support integration and test activities to validate modeled assumptions and compliance. Maintain traceability and configuration across concept development, design maturity, verification, and operational deployment. Participate in major design reviews and readiness milestones with engineering and customer stakeholders. Communicate project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership. Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle. Perform additional job duties as assigned.
