Job summary

Zekai seeks experienced Systems Architects or Chief Systems Architects for a 100% remote contract on an AI training project focusing on real-world engineering workflows. You will define architectures, lead multidisciplinary teams, and set clear technical objectives and evaluation criteria.

US-based candidates are preferred, but highly qualified applicants worldwide are welcome. A master’s degree or PhD in related fields and experience with MBSE, SysML, and architecture modeling tools are valued;

• Experience as Systems Architect or Chief Systems Architect or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Proven ownership of architecture for complex engineering systems and leadership of diverse teams.
• Strong skills in system architecture design, trade studies, interfaces, and architecture reviews.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

• Translate objectives into architectures with boundaries, subsystems, interfaces and constraints.

Role Title: Systems Architect / Chief Systems Architect

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote - US-based preferred; candidates with strong relevant experience worldwide considered.

our partner is looking for experienced Systems Architects or Chief Systems Architects to support an AI training project focused on complex, real-world engineering workflows. In this role, you will draw on your experience defining system architectures and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams to design realistic tasks, coordinate contributions from domain experts, and establish clear technical objectives and evaluation criteria. Your expertise will help improve how AI systems reason about architecture, interfaces, dependencies, and engineering trade-offs.

Scope of Work

• Design realistic engineering projects requiring architectural decisions across multiple disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and manufacturing.
• Translate project objectives into system architectures with defined boundaries, subsystem responsibilities, interfaces, and technical constraints.
• Break complex architectural problems into connected tasks with defined inputs, deliverables, dependencies, and expert responsibilities.

Requirements

• Substantial professional experience as a Systems Architect, Chief Systems Architect, or in a comparable technical leadership role.
• Proven experience owning the architecture of complex engineering systems and leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong expertise in system architecture design, technical trade studies, interface management, and architecture reviews.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• A relevant master's degree or PhD in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering, SysML, or architecture modeling tools.
• Experience guiding system architectures from initial concept through implementation, integration, and deployment.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial systems, medical devices, or other complex engineering environments.
