Job summary

micro1 is seeking an experienced Systems Architect or Chief Systems Architect to support an AI training project focused on real-world engineering workflows. You will define architectures across mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and manufacturing, and lead multidisciplinary teams to establish clear objectives and evaluation criteria.

The role is a contractor position, remote with US-based preference; worldwide candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered.

micro1 is looking for experienced Systems Architects or Chief Systems Architects to support an AI training project focused on complex, real-world engineering workflows. In this role, you will draw on your experience defining system architectures and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams to design realistic tasks, coordinate contributions from domain experts, and establish clear technical objectives and evaluation criteria. Your expertise will help improve how AI systems reason about architecture, interfaces, dependencies, and engineering trade-offs.

Scope of Work

1. Design realistic engineering projects requiring architectural decisions across multiple disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and manufacturing.
2. Translate project objectives into system architectures with defined boundaries, subsystem responsibilities, interfaces, and technical constraints.
3. Break complex architectural problems into connected tasks with defined inputs, deliverables, dependencies, and expert responsibilities.

Requirements

1. Substantial professional experience as a Systems Architect, Chief Systems Architect, or in a comparable technical leadership role.
2. Proven experience owning the architecture of complex engineering systems and leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
3. Strong expertise in system architecture design, technical trade studies, interface management, and architecture reviews.
4. English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

1. A relevant master's degree or PhD in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
2. Experience with model-based systems engineering, SysML, or architecture modeling tools.
3. Experience guiding system architectures from initial concept through implementation, integration, and deployment.
4. Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial systems, medical devices, or other complex engineering environments.
