Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Architect - Signal Integrity to lead mechanical design for next-generation high-speed backplane solutions. This remote role includes travel to customer locations and requires coordinating with OEMs.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in electrical/electromechanical systems, strong CAD skills (ProE/SolidWorks), and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance. A Bachelor's in EE/ME is required; advanced degrees preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years as an Electrical Engineer on electro-mechanical systems.
  • US work eligibility and ability to obtain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level mechanical design from concept to production.
  • Interface with OEM customers, guiding engineering discussions and issue resolution.
  • Develop mechanical specs, modeling, prototypes, and performance requirements for thermal, structural, and high-speed signal needs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.

Job description

Piper Companies is looking for a Systems Architect - Signal Integrity to join a global leader in high-speed interconnect and cable technologies while providing senior-level technical leadership to support the design and development of advanced cable backplane solutions. The ideal Systems Architect - Signal Integrity will work remote role with some travel to customer locations.

Responsibilities for the Systems Architect - Signal Integrity:
  • Lead system-level mechanical design for next-generation high-speed cable backplane products, guiding programs from concept through production.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with OEM customers, driving engineering discussions, resolving complex issues, and ensuring alignment across teams.
  • Develop mechanical specifications, modeling packages, prototypes, and performance requirements that support thermal, structural, and high-speed signal needs.
  • Influence product direction by providing strategic insights, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.
Qualifications for the Systems Architect - Signal Integrity:
  • 10+ years of experience as a Electrical Engineer supporting complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
  • Strong background in mechanical design principles such as tolerance analysis, materials behavior, and CAD modeling (ProE/SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and engaging directly with OEM customers.
  • Familiarity with high-speed interconnect requirements including thermal considerations, mechanical alignment, and structural integrity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings to clients and internal teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
Compensation/Benefits for the Systems Architect - Signal Integrity:
  • Salary Range: $140,000 - $190,000 depending on experience and location.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave (as required by law), and Holidays.
