The System Architect role provides technical expertise and technology leadership during sales concept development and project concept design phases in the freight & parcel and postal material handling industries. This role collaborates with the Sales organization to understand customer operation and process challenges to develop industry leading system solutions within the material handling industry. This role also collaborates within the Execution organization ensuring concept designs align with system functionality requirements and support concept transformation into detail design solutions.

Your role in our team
  • Demonstrate a strong expertise in material handling system design, equipment technology, and operational process within a multi-discipline rapid development team to extend capabilities of existing Körber products and develop new capabilities to position Körber for maximum growth.
  • Head up client’s request for the material handling system(s) using their data or working through their requirements to create system solutions solving client issues, enhancing processing efficiency and supporting end user requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise during sales phase showcasing Körber’s capability to develop industry leading solutions and build trust with clients.
  • Support multiple client projects with a range of $1M - $250M.
  • Conduct internal and external meetings with clients as required.
  • Create / Utilize / Explain, Material Flow Calculator that develops the Basis of Design (BOD).
  • Act as the subject matter expert on various types of material handling equipment in the market to ensure the best possible solution.
  • Work with clients to create weighted Selection Criteria Matrix, driving optimal solution selections for end users and Körber.
  • Create Concepts and Process and Material Flow Diagrams.
  • Ensure mechanical system designs align with electrical control capabilities supporting solution requirements.
  • Support the development of the description for operation documentation.
  • Provide mechanical support for system and product simulation and emulation testing.
  • Work with bid factory on pricing.
  • Collaborate with design team to develop system requirement and functional specification documents for handoff to engineering and operations teams.
  • Work with operations to ensure Commissioning / Testing plans are in accordance with the “As-Sold” concept and system acceptance criteria.
Your Profile
  • Proficiency in automation layout and design with AutoCAD 2D or Navisworks.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Understanding of automation controls and an interest in cross-discipline responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to document technical decisions with illustrations and clear verbal explanations.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven ability of high-quality output to exceed customers’ expectations.
  • Ability to travel - 25%.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of knowledge and responsibilities.
