Job summary
BorgWarner Arden campus in North Carolina seeks a Systems Analyst – Smart Manufacturing to translate manufacturing requirements into scalable MES/IIoT solutions. You will design, implement, and support digital tooling across global sites, interfacing with manufacturing, IT, and business stakeholders.
You will lead end-to-end projects, drive data-driven insights, and shape standards for Industry 4.0 with a focus on measurable productivity gains and sustainable practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- 3+ years of professional experience in consulting or industry (automotive/manufacturing preferred).
- Solid understanding of Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Fluent English; willingness to travel up to ~30%.
Responsibilities
- Design, rollout, and improvement of a global smart manufacturing / IIoT platform connecting machines, systems and data across production environments.
- Partner with international, cross-functional teams to define scalable digital standards, reusable solution patterns, and integration frameworks for Industry 4.0 and IIoT.
- Identify and evaluate high-value digital use cases – production optimization, logistics, predictive insights, energy efficiency, and data-driven decision support.
- Lead assigned solutions and projects end to end, from concept to handover: planning, estimation, delivery tracking, and risk/scope/change management.
- Analyze, design, and standardize global target processes, data flows, and digital tools with local production, logistics, engineering, and IT teams.
- Evaluate emerging technologies – IIoT integration, edge/cloud connectivity, industrial data architecture, analytics/AI enablement – to strengthen future smart-factory capabilities.
- Ensure stable day-to-day operation of smart manufacturing systems while introducing innovative services and embedding digital-lean principles.
- Develop technical specifications, perform IT testing, and create documentation and end-user training.
- Identify, shape and deliver AI/ML and advanced-analytics use cases – translating them into scalable, production-ready solutions.
- Train, coach, and build digital competencies among IT and business stakeholders across the domain.

Systems Analyst – Smart Manufacturing

The Smart Manufacturing team drives the future of connected, data-driven production, delivering secure and scalable solutions across MES, Industry 4.0, IIoT, and digital transformation. We connect machines, systems, and data across our global production sites to enable real-time visibility, standardized digital capabilities, advanced analytics, and continuous productivity improvements – working closely with manufacturing, engineering, logistics, IT, and business stakeholders to reduce complexity, uphold global standards, and accelerate adoption of smart manufacturing technologies.
Reporting to the Manager Smart Manufacturing IT, this role translates manufacturing requirements into functional designs, configurations, integrations, test plans, and support models for scalable MES, IIoT, and smart manufacturing solutions. It bridges manufacturing, IT, and business stakeholders to enable data-driven operations, secure OT/IT integration, and measurable gains in productivity, flexibility, resilience, and sustainability – with an eye on where the smart factory is heading, not just where it is today.
- Contribute to the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of a global smart manufacturing / IIoT platform connecting machines, systems, and data across production environments.
- Partner with international, cross-functional teams to define scalable digital standards, reusable solution patterns, and integration frameworks for Industry 4.0 and IIoT.
- Identify and evaluate high-value digital use cases – production optimization, logistics, predictive insights, energy efficiency, and data-driven decision support

- Analyze, design, and standardize global target processes, data flows, and digital tools together with local production, logistics, engineering, and IT organizations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies – IioT integration, edge/cloud connectivity, industrial data architecture, and analytics/AI enablement – to strengthen future smart-factory capabilities and keep solutions extensible (e.g., digital-twin- and analytics-ready)
- Ensure stable day-to-day operation of smart manufacturing systems while introducing innovative services and embedding digital-lean principles into future solutions
- Develop technical specifications, perform IT testing, and create documentation and end-user training, so systems are adopted correctly and meet business needs
- Identify, shape, and help deliver AI/ML and advanced-analytics use cases – e.g., predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, vision-based quality, and AI-assisted decision support – translating them from concept into scalable, production-ready solutions.
- Train, coach, and build digital competencies among IT and business stakeholders across the domain.
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or related fields
- 3+ years of professional experience in consulting or industry (automotive/manufacturing preferred) across IT, engineering, production, and/or logistics – including hands-on implementation and support of Industry 4.0 technologies and business digitalization
- Solid understanding of Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing solutions – familiarity with SAP, MES, and IIoT platforms, plus awareness of edge/cloud, analytics, and industrial data architecture
- Self-starter, open to innovative ideas, able to prioritize across multiple projects, work to tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to deliver IT solutions that meet business needs within budget and timelines in a global organization
- Fluent English (additional languages a plus); willingness to travel up to ~30%
