Position Title: Systems Analyst

Organizational Relationships: Reports to Business Systems Analyst Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

General Function:

The Systems Analyst is a member of the Business Solutions Team within IT and serves as the technical owner and subject matter expert for assigned banking systems and applications. This role acts as the Product Owner for assigned systems, responsible for system configuration, release management, vendor coordination, automation, and Tier 3 application support. The Systems Analyst partners closely with various business units, Business Analysts, Software Development, Infrastructure, and vendors to design, configure, enhance, and support banking applications that meet business and regulatory requirements.

Systems Analysts are assigned as a primary or secondary analyst within one or more specialty teams, including Back Office/Digital Services Systems, Core Systems, Lending Systems, and Operations Systems.

Position Functions

System Ownership & Product Management:

  • Serve as the Product Owner for assigned enterprise applications, establishing priorities, managing application lifecycles, and aligning system capabilities with business objectives.
  • Function as the primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications, providing expertise, guidance, and support for projects, enhancements, operational issues, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of enterprise technical solutions and how business processes leverage those technologies.
  • Serve as primary or secondary analyst within assigned system specialty teams.

Application Administration & Configuration:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain banking applications, including system parameters, workflows, security, integrations, reports, and forms.
  • Design, implement, and support automation and workflow solutions to improve efficiency across applications and departments.
  • Support system integrations, interfaces, and data flows between internal and third-party systems.
  • Develop and maintain internal procedures and technical documentation to ensure system integrity, availability, and supportability.

Release, Vendor & Lifecycle Management:

  • Lead application release management activities, including planning, coordination, testing, validation, deployment, post-implementation review, and communication to ensure successful and controlled production releases.
  • Review vendor release notes to identify new functionality, potential impacts, and improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary vendor contact for troubleshooting, upgrades, recurring engagements, and release coordination.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new third‑party products and industry trends relevant to banking systems.

Project & Change Support:

  • Partner with Business Analysts, Project Management, and business units to design and implement system enhancements supporting prioritized initiatives and projects.
  • Write and maintain detailed functional and technical specifications for developers and configuration teams.
  • Use elicitation techniques to gather and document requirements at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including requirements, use cases, process flows, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Support and participate in system testing, validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and change management activities.

Operational Support & Reliability:

  • Analyze business processes, workflows, and operations to identify efficiency gains and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide Tier 3 application support and act as escalation point from Tier 2 Technical Support.
  • Analyze system issues, troubleshoot configurations, and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams.
  • Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to provide after‑hours support as assigned or as needed.
  • Provide backup support to team members as needed, including during periods of high demand, system incidents, or scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Perform system maintenance, upgrades, releases, and support activities outside normal business hours as required.
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation for assigned systems.
  • Support implementation, modification, training, and ongoing maintenance of automated processes (e.g., OpCon).

Collaboration & Advisory Role:

  • Act as the technical liaison across the organization, providing guidance on system functionality, features, and usage.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, InfoSec and Software Development to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Partner with business unit leadership, Project Managers, and Business Analysts on RFPs and vendor evaluations.
  • Work closely with Business Systems team members to identify process improvement opportunities and develop innovative solutions.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Travel to branch locations and provide support as needed.
  • Serve as backup to other Business Solutions team members.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and report to work as scheduled.

  • Strong technical aptitude with enterprise and banking applications.
  • Experience administering, configuring, and supporting complex software systems.
  • Ability to write clear functional and technical specifications.

  • Ability to manage system releases and vendor relationships.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Compliance & Work Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to go above and beyond expected work schedule to accomplish what is needed within assigned department(s) and the organization as a whole. Availability for on‑call support, including nights and weekends when required.
  • Ability and willingness to provide flexible support in emergency situations or to backfill or support team members as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other branches.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., with or without accommodation.
  • Complete mandatory annual BSA training that includes Red Flag, Identity Theft, OFAC, CTR and SAR reporting and thresholds, as well as the safe keeping of member information, and passes any applicable tests.
  • Follow all Whitefish Credit Union, Montana and Federal information privacy guidelines.
  • Adhere to all Whitefish Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Protect Member and Whitefish Credit Union confidential information.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant experience in related field.
  • 5+ years US banking/financial operational experience.
  • 5+ years technical analysis experience.
  • 5+ years implementing new technical solutions.
  • 5+ years customer support experience.
  • 5+ years credit union or banking software experience.
    • Proficiency in implementing new technical solutions, root cause analysis, and change management.
